December 9, 2003 Contact: Gail Vacca, 815-761-4937, glv190@aol.com Stop horse slaughter fundraiser at After the Races "After the Races" a favorite race track establishment located just outside the gates of Hawthorne National Racecourse on Laramie Ave. in Stickney / Cicero IL will be the site of an event to raise money to stop horse slaughter in Illinois. The fundraiser will be on Saturday December 20, 2003. A $10.00 cover charge will be assessed at the door. After the Races will be providing free food and beer!! There will be several raffles and a silent auction. Tickets for the Grand Prize, a 3 day 2 night stay in Las Vegas including roundtrip airfare are $10 each. There will also be a silent auction. Funds are need to hire lobbyists, lawyers, and to conduct an official poll of Illinois voters as to their position on horse slaughter. "The results of all polls taken thus far, have shown that Americans overwhelmingly, support a ban on horse slaughter," said Gail Vacca, a Thoroughbred trainer who is one of the organizers of the event.
