I thought it was M1 for a second seeing LifeGuard on Duty and Sam Widger surprise the Am Natl field and win in 1:48 and 4/5

Devilfish got a Dale Hiteman trip (shufled back) and didn't even get a sniff.

Gutty performances by 2md place My Boy David and the 3rd place Jereme's Jet.   Both roughed it first over to a 26.1 1/4 and a 53 half.   (They went 120.2 for 3/4)

Gee - A  NW1/NW2 horse wins the American National first up in 1:48 4/5.

Nothing like a BIG BREAKFAST for a BIG EFFORT. It's all talent folks, yep talent!

Some thoughts on the 3yo Amer. National:

How did this horse win first over?
What happened to Ruckers horses? finished up the rear!
Is Todd related to Merl la Fontaine from Michigan?
I think Hiteman drove Devilfish like he was suppose to. Kept him flat, didnt rough him up and picked up a check for finishing! sometimes you have to restart somewhere! Now Erv can concentrate on getting him back to winning!
Jereme Jet didnt look as sharp as he did last week!

Todd and Merle "Moe" LaFountaine are indeed brothers from Michigan.  Both of them race several horses in Chicago.  They also race at a number of other tracks, as well has in Stake events.

Other than both being by Jenna's Beach Boy, Life Guard On Duty and Quik Pulse Mindale are not related.  Life Guard On Duty is from an Artsplace mare, Unblemished.  Quik Pulse Mindale is out of a No Nukes mare, Midnight Stage.  Thus, they are not considered brothers in racehorse terminology.

They do have a couple of things in common.  Both horses were selected and purchased at the yearling sale in Lexington, Kentucky, by trainer Todd LaFountaine.  Also, Bill & Sheryl Tuleja have owned them.

Nice job by Quik Pulse Mindale & Sam Widger!

Jereme's Jet looked dynamite in the post parade. However, it appeared that Davey boy was having a little trouble controlling him. I figured he'd come out of there with him and Dave just wouldn't be able to get him slowed down. I was guessing Devilfish would be the one to give him a go along with the one horse, but it turned out to be over-aggressive Andy, who probably would have one the race had he just tried to follow some cover like a human being.

Jereme's Jet did look like dynamite it's just too bad Magee needlessly got him hung out there for so long.

Horrible drive by the "hall of famer". I guess they weren't going fast enough for him.
