Okay, morning errands are done.  Just have to mow the lawn and take a shower.  I love these early post time Saturdays.  I have my Jarosch coffee cake and mimosa fixins' ready for brunch.  The butcher cut me some beautiful beef ribs with lots of prime rib left on the bones that will go on the grill later for dinner.  Then stopped at the farmer's market for some Twin Garden Farm mirai sweet corn, I'm ready.

Now I just need some winners.  Just like the late, great handicapper Freddy Mercury, "I'm just a poor boy from a poor family", so any help in picking those winners would be appreciated.

Prosecco is on ice, gotta get out and the grass cut before the first race.

Jarosch is the best.  I am playing the stakes p4.  Only through two so far.  Im leaning towards Abaco.  In the next race i like Noble Moon but will include the fave.

Is AP going to show the Travers on the big screen in between the AP [last two]? Do they still do that?

Back in the day they would quite often show the "big races" from elsewhere on the big screen and it sort of made it seem like AP was part and parcel of a national racing scene, with customers encouraged to be part and parcel of it as well. I can remember the entire season of Holy Bull races on the AP big screen.

When they came back after the 2 year hiatus and CD was almost immediately in charge, that practice seemed to end in favor of "eh, if you care about that stuff, go on inside and watch a TV". I've always thought that was a big loss. The focus for the live crowd was now directed to the odds for the last IL bred maiden claimer of the day, featuring horses you never heard of before and probably never would hear of again.

At any rate enjoy a nice Saratoga card if you're playing. Travers Day is always a good show. Don't think I will be able to make it over to the old OTB today.  Cry

And beobob enjoy your bbq - high today here of less than 60, and rain all day.

The 2 had just made a big move through that gap.  That was ugly.  Could have dominoed into pure nastiness.

I like the 5 here with the 1,3,9 not sure how I'm going to play it.

Sorry about my assumption.  You're characterization of me is close.  I'm a NW suburban Cub fan whose wife just left for a bridal shower = stay home.  And you win both on climate and scenery.

tonalist and wicked strong can both win at this distance.
one or both of them can be in the tri, certainly both in the super.

i doubt they will run 1,2 exacta box.

other to consider, the tiznow colt, charge now, fired a bullet work at SAR.

will Bayern who won at MON not SAR run all 10f..

thats what i got..

i am thinking supers with a few keys ...

That's company policy, they wouldn't sell me beer because my 32 yo wife didn't have here ID on her, even though I was paying and had my ID.  Really has nothing to do with county or township.  The liability outweighs the beer profit.

I believe that practice went out the window when full-card simulcasting came in. They scheduled races from other tracks as part of the card because those races were the only ones you could bet on outside of Arlington at the time.

I don't think it ended dead when full-card came along in 1995. IIRC they still had some of those special big screen races with special Illinois-only pools, and there'd be a lot of chatter about choosing your price between the Illinois pool and the host track.

I think the practice just never returned after the 1998-1999 hiatus, when AP re-opened in 2000 under the new "hot off the sale" CDI management. And it's a shame, because when what you have to offer locally is so utterly mediocre on a day-to-day basis, showing a big stakes from here or there on occasion might spice up the program.
