Perhaps our 'Vegas Connection' and others can fill us in on what they consider to be the best racebooks in Vegas? I haven't been there in a few years and may be planning a trip within the next couple of months. Many to choose from, I'm sure, but which ones are considered the 'best?' Have to go to Reno in March on business but really don't care for the place and the racebooks I've been to in that city. Would appreciate any info.

Dale here is a list of books you will enjoy and some to stay away from good luck!!!
Best Worst
1) The Bellagio 1) The MGM
2) The Wynn 2) Ceasars Palace
3) The Mirage 3) The Paris
4) The Mandalay Bay 4) Flamingo Hilton
5) Ballys 5) The Palms
The books under the best have the most comfortable surroundings and the best tellers, threr arent any SAM machines out here in Vegas so be prepared to go up to a teller to place your bets. The books under the worst are that because of the HORRIBLE tellers they have and also the lack of knowledgeable horse people that run them!!!..........Good luck!!

Thanks - this is valuable information and it will surely come in handy. I particularly like that you indicated which ones to avoid as which ones you feel are the best.

thanks, i wasn't even thinking of march madness. we will avoid all of that for sure. With that in mind, it will be the beginning of the month, that always works into our schedule the best anyway!

dt2 When you're out in Summerlin playing golf stop in at the Suncoast racebook, if you see me there I'll buy you a great corned beef at the Bagal Cafe deli behind the racebook. You'll like the racebook at the Suncoast. Swing by the new " Red Rock Station " casino being build in Summerlin that will open in March.
Like SN said stop in at the Rampart Casino behind the Suncoast and visit a friend of ours who will hook you up with a buffet.

thanks Dan and Scott.
I'll definitely look up you guy's when we are out there. We have been talking about Vegas for sometime now, but it always seems we end up going to the Caribbean or Europe. I would say that it is 95% written in stone for this march!
once again thanks.

Scott,
Is Chuckie Esposito running the sports & horses at Caesars Palace? If he is, no surprise it's not good.
He's a Chicago native...
How is the Hilton since Jay Kornegay took over?

I really appreciate all this great inside info! I'm getting so revved up that I may get there (Vegas) sooner than expected. The betting sounds great, the food sounds great, and as for the weather.....oh my God, we've got the lake effect here in Michigan right now and its terrible. I hate it......winds howling around 50-60 miles per hour, roads slick, snow blowing......

I hate to disagree on my first day on the board, but The Palms is a great book for action. They could stand to have a few more open windows, but the babes are awesome and the food near it is too. The Mirage is very large and I used to give them my business, but they took 20 minutes to do a couple of my IRS slips last time. It cost me big time whem a horse named Whopper won at Balmoral. I would bet 100 or 200 win on him every time. I was at the Mirage for a batchelor party, and Whopper ended up paying 19/1 ! I always wheel horses like that in the exactsa too. The slow service cost me at least 5 thousand bucks. That woulda covered all the strippers and hookers we got all weekend. I haven't been back since.

I usually give the Palms 1000 or so and bet off the screens if I'm with buddies to watch in case I leave the terminal. I do hate having to logoff and on each time. They also have the hottest waitresses. Hey sn, since I understand you live there, why do you think SAMs aren't there ? It would save the casino money and with all the eyes-in-the-sky, they would know who was using them. Your thoughts and Happy Thanksgiving.
