New York, NY --- Saturday’s TVG FFA Pace at the New Meadowlands that pits the 3-year-old Captaintreacherous against a group of world champion older war horses, including Foiled Again and Pet Rock, is sure to be one of the most exciting races of the year.

To help celebrate the race, the Meadowlands, in conjunction with the USTA and Converseon, has launched a social media promotion designed to not only build excitement and buzz for the race, but also to help give back to the community in the process.

The Facebook promotion at this link allows fans to vote whether they think Captaintreacherous or Foiled Again (or the field) will win. For each vote cast for the winning horse, a dollar will be donated to Meals-on-Wheels, which provides home-delivered meal services to people in need. Fans can also leave comments about the race and share their predictions.

While live for only a short time, the voting is currently running neck and neck with fans expressing some very passionate opinions.

All fans are encouraged to vote and share their thoughts about the race in the comment section. Voting will end at 8 p.m. (EST) on Saturday (Nov. 30).

“This promotion not only celebrates a great race, but also helps demonstrate the unique power of social media to truly engage fans in new and meaningful ways and make them feel even more deeply connected to the race itself,” said Rob Key, CEO of Converseon. “It fully leverages the power of social platforms while demonstrating to even casual observers that the sport is a caring community citizen, which is especially important during this holiday period.

“This social promotional approach will help serve as a template to support other important races as we head into 2014. Together with the new Social Ambassador program and the soon-to-be-launched Fan Zone, we are building out the necessary foundation to enable even more far-reaching and innovative marketing in 2014.”

In addition to voting, fans are encouraged to express their vote on Twitter via hashtags #thecaptain, #foiledagain, #petrock or others of their choosing.
