Last year 14 trophies were stolen in a similar fashion from The Harness Horse Hall Of Fame in Goshen NY.
As of today I don't think they have been recovered.

I am just an old "Hoss" trainer, that has been raced hard and put away wet.
As my Friend from Maine(Ora Stratton) says "There are horse trainers, and then there are real "Hoss" trainers.

I read about that earlier today. They've said the trophies stolen last night were valued at hundreds of thousands. Some are speculating these might be melted down for the gold.

If they were smart enough to pull that theft off they are smart enough to melt them down immediately.  Unfortunately no way to trace them after that.

Are trophies Worth hundred of thousands melted down or as is?
Doesn't sound like something a local would do?

Back in those days they probably used real gold and silver on important trophies.

A lot of the Egyptian tombs were looted for their gold 6,000 years ago. Much of the gold of Rome was looted when the barbarians sacked it. Times are always the same when it comes to theft.
