When I moved to California with Rick Plano back in 1982, I also helped Roy's father George with his 5 horses. George was always nice to me. Back then he had a good free legged horse by Gypsy Bret named Stutz and a red knee-knocker by Steady Special named Sugar Valley JJ. George got sick about a year later and he and the horses shipped back East. I think they went to Lou Mettinis and raced at Yonkers.

roy was the only vet in the country licensed to use Radium pellets .
About 20 years ago Roy lost a lot of weight and there was a rumor that he had cancer from the radium pellets. If you knew Roy you had to wonder if you were getting radium sometimes or just some inert pellets.
