From the horsemen's newsletter posted on BTW: The internet gambling bill has resurfaced, separated from the larger gaming bill in the IL legislature. It does not provide a split for the horsemen/purses. This could be much more lucrative to the industry, particularly if the industry could somehow "accept" it in lieu of slots. The brick and mortar/casino/slot establishments would be the domain of the Casinos, and the internet gaming be the domain of the horse industry. The fact that the bill provides nothing to purses is pure BS. Come-on Dick and Cary, you can't take it with you to the grave so share some of it!

I imagine the tracks don't want to share because to do so would put them at a competitive disadvantage with the casinos, and I imagine the State doesn't want to share because they somehow have to pay the pensions of retired public employee leeches like APCD Dan.

Could be the horsemen got snookered when they thought they were accomplishing something by getting i-gaming out of the slots bill. The slots/casino bill may fail totally due to its massive weight, while this thing gets passed.

But, beyond the lack of support for purses ... has anyone thought about this? If AP gets i-gaming but no slots, what's the motivation for them to EVER reduce admission and concession prices like most racinos have done? And for that matter if "AP" gets i-gaming, what's the motivation for Churchill to base one smidgen of that operation (and jobs) in Illinois at all? It's a virtual business!

Hey, that money filters back a little into the horse racing industry from me.  Can't do much more than that as I am just a poor pensioner.

True. Though I'm an unabashed AP hugger, I have no faith in CDI to make IL racing part of their core business - it will become a conduit to funnel more $ to their bottom line via casino/internet revenue with little contribution to the IL racing industry.
