Afleet Alex! People make excuses for horses getting checked, bumped, bad starts, etc. Not many go to their nose in the stretch and win by daylight in a Triple Crown race. Wish he would have stayed healthy.

Easy Goer vs Sunday Silence; one of the greatest stretch runs ever.  I had $50 win on Easy goer which was a lot of money back then.  Still can't believe i lost Cry

I have attended 3 runnings.  I know Woodman won one of them, can't remember the others.  Pimlico is a dump but the Preakness is great to see in person, highly recommended.  The Preakness drink is much better than a mint julep beer

What's the Preakness drink?  I'll have to see if they can do that at our place.

That mint julep knocked me for a loop.  I only drank most of it out of politeness when someone bought us  one.  Yikes!  Nasty!  Next time I took it into the other room and talked with friends for awhile and gave it to someone to drink and carried back the empty glass.

The Preakness Drink is called the Black Eyed Susan.....It it very similar to a "Tom Collins"

I went to every Preakness from 72-05.....Bee Bee Bee to Afleet Alex....I also went to Rachel Alexandra's in 2009......The move that Spectacular Bid made will never be forgotten by me......He moved way too early into that General Assembly/Flying Paster duel......And still won by 10......Though admittedly that wasn't much of a field

UNDERCARD...............Artax KO.

I know a couple of really big players who pitched him that day and were drunk enough that they would have killed that guy if they had gotten a hold of him.....A few years later on a normal Saturday we were at Laurel and a guy we knew pointed to a guy and said that it was him......But we didn't know for sure

Secretariat in 1973. The most impressive move I have ever seen... and I wonder how many races I have seen..... tens of thousands, sadly.

Yeah, took the winner from about 3-1 down to about 6-5.

And, as far as I know, the guy was banned from all tracks.
