Matt Harvey will throw a perfect game or no hitter against White Sox since they seem to be intimidated by good pitchers besides verlander and felix Hernandez.    #chickens

Why is that every poster that throws a jab at you sam is a "tough" guy? I have to agree with you though about Belle Boyd she's game as they come. In The Wheelhouse on the other hand is destined for the 3yrold conditioned claimers in the next 60 days.

Harvey uses outer third almost to perfection

Matt Harvey had a perfect game in the seventh inning against the White Sox.Matt Harvey was just about as perfect as possible without being perfect against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Harvey is the only player in the Modern Era (since 1900) to pitch nine innings with at least 12 strikeouts allowing no walks and only one hit with no decision, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

9 IP, 12 K, 1 or Fewer Hits, No Decision
Modern Era (Since 1900)
  Walks
Tuesday Matt Harvey NYM 0
1992 Randy Johnson SEA 1
1986 Nolan Ryan HOU 4
>>Source: Elias Sports Bureau

The Mets ace went the first 6 ⅔ innings without allowing a base runner. Harvey is the first Mets pitcher with at least 6 ⅔ perfect innings since Rick Reed on June 8, 1998 (also 6 2/3).

Harvey going deep against an AL Central team without allowing a hit shouldn’t be a surprise. He also threw 6 ⅔ innings of no-hit ball against the Minnesota Twins on April 13.

Harvey is off to quite the incredible start to his young career. He’s the only pitcher in the last 100 years with at least 125 strikeouts and 25 or fewer earned runs allowed in his first 17 career starts, according to Elias.

How did Harvey dominate the White Sox?

• Harvey got 20 of his 27 outs, including nine strikeouts, on pitches on the outer third of the plate or further outside. A career-high 63 percent of his pitches were on the outer third. Of the 13 right-handed batters he retired, 11 came on outer-third pitches.

• Harvey retired the first 20 hitters he faced and threw a first-pitch strike to 16 of them. The first 2-0 count Harvey went to came to Adam Dunn, the batter after Alex Rios' infield single broke up the perfect game bid.

• He started ahead 0-1 to 17 of 28 batters and threw first-pitch strikes to 20 of them. Rios' hit came after an 0-1 count, but for the season hitters are 9-for-102 (.088) against Harvey after starting behind 0-1, the lowest average any starting pitcher this season.

• For the first time in his career, Harvey did not allow a "well-hit" ball, as judged by the Inside Edge scouting service.

• The White Sox put nine of Harvey's off-speed pitches in play and hit eight on the ground. A season-high 66 percent of his off-speed pitches were down in the zone or below it

Who would have thought John Buck would be the key player in the deal  laughing guy laughing guy
From what I read when the trade was made, Jays threw Buck into the deal only AFTER Mets threw Thole in the trade.

it seems like the whole franchise is turning better.  It used to be guys would blow it up when they left, now, they're leaving and then falling apart.  Hate the fact that Jason Bay cost Casper Wells his spot in Seattle...

I think mid-June is when Mets can call up Wheeler without losing a year of him being arbitration eligible. So several more starts in Vegas for Wheeler and then Mets will really have a 1-2 punch of Harvey-Wheeler. Rest if their staff is totally unreliable

If Met history is our guide, it will be late July.

David Wright debuted on 7/21
Matt Harvey debuted on 7/26

The Nats on the other hand were more aggressive.

Strasburg debuted on 6/8
Harper debuted on 4/28

There are not too many bigger Met fans than me, but I have to admit they are unwatchable. I chart out when Matt Harvey is pitching and set my schedule accordingly.

This thread is about Matt Harvey and how him one hitting the White Sox is nothing special since they are scared of any good pitcher not named verlander or felix.  This is not fantasy baseball.

M Harvey 8.0 6 1 1 0 10 0 114-80 1.85

how good was he again  amazing!!!  he should be at lease 8 or 9 and 0 if the mets had any offense. how he gets up to pitch knowing the mets will get 2 runs or less everytime he pitches.i hope he does not get discouraged . at this point he should start the all star game at citi park

Speaking of the All-Star game, as bad as the Mets have been, they actually have 4 candidates for the game.

Harvey
Wright
Parnell
Murphy

Baseball is still a strange game.

Altuve will be the Houston representative, but who can possibly be the Marlins rep?

Not so fast.  First, manager of the team decides -- and then it depends when he last pitched.

No possible way Parnell is a candidate........way too many better relievers than him.........Murphy will not make it either.......Brandon Phillips will start at 2B with Marco Scutaro and Matt Carpenter as backups, both have better numbers than Murphy and play on good teams
