quote author=burright
"swoodall:
you are getting a little wacky here
your contention all trainers who go "beyond the rules" are thieves and cheaters
ok let's take a look at some of these top trainers

Andrew Robinson - Got caught redhanded, crook for sure
Jill Arnold - Mike's wife, former beard trainer for Morgan, obvious crook
Nelson Willis - Been around too long not to be a crook
Paul Stafford - Traines for Rucker, certainly a crook
Robin Schadt - Cmon, she has to be a crook
Erv Miller - He's gotten days before, certainly a crook
Dave McCaffrey - Dave has gotten days in the past too, must be a crook
Bruce Pacetti - Shady past, all of a sudden hot, has to  be a crook
Paul Blumenfeld - All California trainers are crooks, right
Joe Anderson - Enough said, are you kiddin, crook
Tom Simmons - Injects them in the aisle at the fairs, crook
Darcy Pletcher - Found the good stuff, must be a crook
Jerald Grevengoed - Associated with Morgan, has to be a crook

The list can go on and on.
You sound like one of the guys on the rail
who loses his bet and is convinced his driver stiffed.
Get your head out of your ass."

WE HAVE ADDED A FEW NAMES TO THE MORON AND MORALLY CORRUPT LIST AT BTW!

First of all you back of the short yellow bus riding idiots.  Calling your post or someone else's logical DOES NOT make it logical!  If you agree with their distorted view of life and what's right and what's wrong then YOUR MORAL COMPASS IS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL!

CHEATING IS NOT NOW OR IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD EVER BEEN CONSIDERED A MISTAKE!  EXCEPT ON BTW OF COURSE!

Bottom line is cheaters without horses can't cheat.  They will be forced to buy and race their own at their own expense.  If they can't afford to do so then they are out of the game.

Following the moral high road the morons on BTW have paved I see more and more hypocrites broken down on the side of it's roadway with every new post and thread.  How many of you multiple personality disordered escapes have criticized a crooked trainer with one side of your mouth then turned around in later threads and supported the owners who enable these guys to continue cheating?

Given the quality of individuals we now have posting on BTW, I want to propose a new investment idea that will make us all tons of money and because of this incredibile ability some of you have shown to compartmentize your morality, you will be able to get a good nights sleep too!  It goes like this:

I have an acquaintance who is looking for investers in his new business.  We invest $5k each to purchase the equipment needed to start operations.  This acquaintance will accept all the operational risk involved with this new business so the BTW investors will not be exposed to any operational penalities.  After operations begin no comunications between the owners and the acquaintance about the business or the direction it is headed will occur.  This is for your moral and legal protection.  Your ROI has tremendous potential!

Now all of you potential investors with a working moral compass hit the ignore button or close your eyes because the business the acquaintance will be involved in is about to be revealed.  This acquaintance is planning on robbing banks electronically.  This acquaintance has all the necessary skills to do a good job for his/her investors without exposing them to the inherent risks involved with operating outside the rules/laws.  All the BTW members have to do is provide the equipment and startup costs needed to begin operations.

No one will be physically harmed in any way with this operation since the only BUSINESS being conducted involves the transferring of a few numbers on a computer screen kinda like the same LOGIC used when a cheating trainer transfers a few numbers on a computer screen in the book keepers office to his account after winning a crooked race!  Anyone interested?  Micha goss, Edward, ageecee and a few others please don't hurt each other trying to be the first in line.  There is enough immorality available for all of you.

Great post I understand and totally agree.

Logic and morals are two completely different things.

I think it's logical to kill someone if they harm my family.  Is that moral?  To me, yes.  To others, maybe not.

Marty was elected with Ken as a trainer.  Everyone knew this fact.  Given that everything is still pending, nothing has changed.  I don't get all the hub-bub NOW.

I'm not sure if I understand the decision to go into business with him in the FIRST PLACE...however, given that he was elected when this was known, I think all this complaining now is just nonsense.

Just my opinion.

Best,
EW

You don't have to read this thread!  Start your own topic and post till your fingers bleed.  This thread has continued an important issue at the crux of Harness Racing's ability to survive!  Whether or not supporting cheating trainers with fresh investment (horses and/or new owners) is condemning this sport to die a slow death?  A large number of us say it is and the sport's declining attendance, handle and the integrity issues plaguing our premier racing venues support our side of this issue.

If you think that certain trainers getting positives is the reason this sport is dying, you and others are completely stupid or annoyingly vindicitive.  Look into the stands.  There is your problem.  The bettors are gone.  Racetrack owners were caught napping as riverboat casinos started sprouting up everywhere.  They offer people a much easier way to satsify their gambling urges.  It is a lot easier to count to twenty-one than buying a program and trying to handicap a race that you have to wait 20 minutes to get results.  The public reading your posts about cheating and racing being corrupt in a public forum 24/7 is not exactly the best promotent either.  There has always been the "loaded dice" mystique to all varieties of horse racing.  Hearing people echo wild conspiracy theories only drives more people away.

You don't scroll through channels on the television and see celebrity handicapping.  You do see blackjack and poker.

"Hearing people echo wild conspiracy theories..."  Huh

Congratulations, You have just made the top of the inbred moron list!  Attendance was already in a nosedive before riverboat gambling was allowed.  If you had attended the races everynight back then as some of us did, you would have already known that cheating was destroying our fanbase.

My point is that there are several "levels" of cheating and thievery.
Practically everyone involved in the industry has bent the rules on some occasion.
Even betting an exacta as an owner or trainer with your horse in the two spot
is technically illegal. Even giving your horse a shot of pig iron or an antibiotic is
illegal. Thus, who is to say where we draw the line. If a trainer is currently allowed
to train by the IRB, in my book, you can't assume they are a crook and/or a thief.

OK Swoodall, tell me something.  Since Ledford and Rucker are not allowed to race at the Meadowlands has attendance increased?

Nope.  Try again, idiot.

Oh, I listed casinos as a reason, not the sole reason.  "Cheating" as you say has not knocked down the public's interest in racing.  More accurately, it may have contributed to the loss of owners and trainers.  Either by  getting caught cheating, getting beat by cheaters, or not being able to afford to cheat.

As I stated, it is technically illegal to bet your horse anywhere other
than on top. If you are guilty of doing this, you are a CROOK!
Crooks and thieves - we are all guilty.

If you kill every termite in your house today,  Will your framing return to the way it was before the termites arrived?  ***!

There is a relationship with the betting public that needs mending.  Until you prove that their trust in your integrity is your number one goal,  they won't come back!  Damage Done!  Reach back into your hillbilly bag of excuses and try again, IDIOT!

Just letting everyone know Lime Spyder is still looking. We spent the last few days
watching several horses at Indiana Downs, Maywood and Balmoral, but never pulled the trigger.
We have a few that are still on the hot stove and something should happen soon.
In Chicago, it seems I've been looking at the same horses for several months now, and the
same holds true for Indiana. Nevertheless, we should have our first horse in our barn by this
time next week.

Is the wood in the house alive?
Is the betting public dead?

Poor analogy.  I wouldn't expect more from you.  Aren't you the guy that Engel said followed Rucker around begging for tips?

Reread post!  This time with a webster open and your mommy standing over your shoulder to explain to you that must read the whole post or you will look like an idiot responding to only one part of it!

In your attempt to patronize, your ignorance shines through.  Good job, Swoodall.  Just because people have better horses, more knowledge and more resources, does not mean they cheat, it just makes them better.  Why you have to chase people around OTBs looking for tips is because you do not know this already.
