Case Could Drive in Pocono Qualifiers Next
Week
By Bill Finley
Walter Case's bid to get
relicensed has run into a minor
delay but his attorney Howard
Taylor is confident that the driver
will be cleared to go next week. If
so, Case will make his
reappearance in qualifying races
on Thursday at Pocono Downs.
"The head of the Pennsylvania
Commission went out of town and
he has to make the final call,"
Taylor said. "Nothing bad has
happened. I am still pretty
confident that we are only days
away, but I am a little disappointed
that it is taking this long. We have
gotten indications from the track
they will accept him. We're just waiting for the commission to
give him the license. I thought it was a done deal but the
commission had to make sure tracks would take him."
"I am very optimistic it will be taken care of early next
week. My expectation is that he will be qualifying horses
Thursday. He said that's how he'd like to start, with the
qualifiers."
Taylor said he has been led to believe that Case will be
able to drive virtually anywhere he wants once he receives
his license. However, he is intent on making Pocono Downs
his home.
"He's living with his wife in that area near New
York-Pennsylvania border," Taylor said. "So that's why we'd
like to start at Pocono. But unless you're talking about stakes
horses there's no reason for him to go anywhere else. The
purses are good at Pocono, he knows the drivers, he knows
the track and was leading driver there in the past."
Case, 52, has no driven regularly in 10 years. He lost his
license after being convicted of stabbing his estranged wife.

Harry, list him all you want, it's the commission that's doing the wrong thing NOT the people who use him.  Yes he paid his debt to society but Pennsy rules say no license for 15 years after a felony.  I guess that only matters for those who CAN'T fix a gambling event.

So out of racing for how many years ?  Age ??
Right he is going to come right out and be the old Walter Case.
He is just going to be an old driver who will be bad like most of them get as age creeps up on them.

Hope this piece of garbage pays his fines @ Northfield, they could raise their purses 15% across the board .. if this guy is an asset to harness racing its no wonder the sport and business is going down the shit hole...
