This just in!

If you believe ESPN:

Mets to wait on Wheeler for monetary reasons 05-13-2013

A Mets insider told ESPN New York that the arbitration clock will play a role in Zack Wheeler's arrival date.

ESPN New York  In other words, the Mets are going to wait until at least mid-June to promote Wheeler from Triple-A to avoid him gaining an extra year of arbitration-eligibility as a Super Two qualifier. None of this, of course, is unexpected. Wheeler, one of the top prospects in baseball, has fanned 47 batters in 43 1/3 innings this year at Triple-A Las Vegas. He'll be a fantasy asset down the stretch.

so the Mets will keep a better player from the minor leagues down on the farm and keep an inferior product on the field on the major league team to save money if the article is true

how does this help their loyal season ticket holders?

I said this a month ago when people were saying Wheeler would get called up. I am not saying they wanted D'arnauld to get hurt of course but they definitely are taking it slower to keep him on the shelf. Wilson's are all about saving $$$   Met fan are speaking by staying home. They did sign Ankiel today but I am sure they got him for vets minimum.

you said teams that are better than the Mets... there's only one AA team on that list(Trenton)  Better value you won't get an arguement

The Mets suck, plain and simple.
I would gladly go to see any of the teams I listed before watching the Mets.
Ownership should be ashamed, and any fan that pays full price for a ticket needs a medical exam.
They don't want to pay for players, then they should drastically cut the ticket prices.

go to NYMETS.COM

go to schedule and tickets

best seats available for next home game vs. Reds are $455.00 per ticket

who wants to pay $455 a ticket to see this team?

I used to go to many games a year

one season went to 58 games

been to 1 last 3 years

they are not a very good team

only the Marlins have a worse record in the National League

one or two pitchers will not win them a title

good it makes no sense to fly players back and forth from las vegas  too far look at yankees teams in trenton and wilkes barre

leaving Las Vegas

The Mets' Triple-A affiliate may be on the move ... again.

The Las Vegas 51s, featuring Zack Wheeler and the injured Travis d'Arnaud in their first year of association with the Mets, have been sold, a team spokesperson said Monday.

The new ownership group reportedly is looking to relocate the Pacific Coast League franchise from Cashman Field in downtown Las Vegas to Summerlin, a master-planned community developed by The Howard Hughes Corportation that lies on the edge of the the city limits.

The Mets are on to their fourth Triple-A partner in eight seasons, after leaving Norfolk following the 2006 season. They were affiliated with the New Orleans Zephyrs from 2007-08 and the Buffalo Bisons for the past four years.

and how is our favorite 14 - 21 team doing tonight?

losing 3 - 0 in the second inning

but they already have 1 hit

$20 for parking

May 24, Fireworks night, seats available for $455 per ticket but you can watch the fireworks from outside the stadium and save the $455 and the parking fee

how can they have the audacity to charge that much plus parking to watch this losing team?

Harry, we are Mets fans plain or simple, win or lose. Also, name a stadium with free beer and parking.

Another note, Wheeler is flying back to NY with some problem around his collarbone

NJ Jackals 10 mins. from me.
Newark Bears 10 mins.
Somerset Patriots
Lakewood Blue Claws
Brooklyn Cyclones
Staten Island Yankees
Sussex Skyhawks
Trenton Thunder (A few minutes more than an hour)
Hudson Valley Renegades

That's 9 and there is probably one or two more I can't remember.
Lehigh is about 90 mins.
Scranton is 2 hours.
If CT. has a team, it's probably within 90 minutes.

Hope you don't go to any Somerset games.  The stadium is built on a toxic dump site. That's where American Cyanamid had its site.  A lof of superfund money is buried under that stadium.

Yonkers1,

As the Mets were increasing prices for their season ticket holders for years please look at their other investment:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/29/sports/baseball/29mets.html?_r=0

Do you know how much 2 great tickets plus parking plus 2 hot dogs and 2 beers will set you back for a game now?

John Gast major league debut against a not so great major league team gets his first win tonight. It still counts even though it was against a team that is now 14 - 22.

The Mets have now lost 5 in a row and may need more than 2 players to turn them around. If they don't spend money they will probably not win, and if fans don't come out maybe they will finally lower the prices to correlate to their level of play, which at 14 - 22 isn't that good.

another game in St. Louis tonight

the anticipation is incredible

how will they lose?

what score will they lose by?

will they even be competitive?

how will they lose their 6th in a row?

these questions and many more will be answered tonight in St. Louis

they should have traded him to Florida in an attempt to get Stanton while they had that chance... Not every young fireballer has Matt Harvey's mechanics.  Most of them break down.  Lightning never strikes twice.

some people thought this was going to be a decent team this year

those people were wrong

some people think this will be a good team next year but ownership doesn't seem to be inclined to spend money based on the last few years

I never said they'd be decent this year.. actually I bet the under 78 wins on Bovada as that was really easy money.  The team that was entertaining to watch the first month is already looking like they're playing out the string and that's the biggest issue I have.  Not trading Wheeler for a stud was a total mistake IMVHO.

I can totally understand his frustration as a Mets fan.  They charge a hell of a lot of money for a product that belongs in Vegas.
