Twilight Eclipse, just now at Gulfie.  Set up by demented fractions, but still an impressive effort.

Block's horse ran a big race. Tho, no match for the winner.

Amazingly, this horse was purchased for a thousand bucks as a yearling.

A little scary to see his middle-aged, bald trainer Tom Albertrani being interviewed before the race.  I remember him as a 7-bug apprentice in NY, circa 1979.  Tempus fargin' fugit.

A grassy knoll? two world records for 12 f in one week ? The latest at Gulfstream beating the earlier mark ran down hill?
Someone smarter than me explain why timing this race with my walmart watch doesn't match up?
By the way NOT one of the cheaper watches either it was $29.95 cash money.

GP's turf times have obviously been questioned.  Turf times are always a little funky, because the teletimers are at fixed positions but the gate and the lanes move--so I think it logical that they are a bit questionable.

However, I know the guy who originally bought Twilight Eclipse for a grand (and then sold him for a nice profit), so I think it's pretty cool regardless.

The North Slope maiden turf win a few weeks back was particularly suspect, fraction-wise.  My 2 cents.

George Tooker.

It was actually parodied in a "Simspsons" episode that ran last autumn.  Couldn't believe it.

Agreed! The winner was very impressive. Teaks North didn't help Block's horse setting those early fractions and then tried and push him when BigTime cruised by him down the backside. That turf course is like a parking lot. You can hear their loud foot steps as they run down the stretch. Great GII turf event.

It will look a lot better when they run year-round.

I SEE.     I had a print of "Moon Rising" once so I recognized his work.

Putting this art in your posts is really nice.
