Oh, and by the way, There's going to be more news today that will probably create even greater interest !!

Those of you who don't like the Rainbow pick 6 for all of the reasons you've given (I don't agree), There will be something for everybody !!

Well, maybe except TK since he is 100% negative on Pocono Downs !!
 Grin

Stay tuned !!!!
There is nothing that could get me interested in betting that place. The only time I will put a dollar in their pools is BC night. Harness racing will be better off when places like this and harrahs close their doors.

Pocono had a pick 7 a few years ago with a $2 minimum bet, and is I recall it was fairly successful.

you better recheck that claim.
p6's and larger wagers like the p7 are terrible in harness racing and draw almost no action despite a guarantee.
stop being such a homer for pocono and work on getting a reduced takeout on all wagers that are competitive

the rainbow 6 will attract virtually no new money and will take at least 3-4 weeks before it goes over the $25k guarantee mark

Isn't the pick 6 at the big M only good once it builds?

I always laugh the day after its huge when there 800 dollars in the pick 6 pool.
Who bets into that?

They are paying the 25 K out every day regardless?

If they are carrying over.

Then they wont have to put up the 25 guarantee. If they carry over 10 K then they wouldn't have to guarantee that and if the carry over hits 25 K that's the guarantee right there.

It's highly unlikely the Rainbow will be hit 2 or 3 days in a row, but if it is, the 25K is guaranteed each and every racing night.
Most understand the handle will probably be small when it starts, but will increase as the pool builds. However, 25K is a great start !

Average nightly handle $300.

When they did. It was a joke bet until the pool hit 150K carryover which was what once every year or 2?

Agree, as did they. That is why it is gone.

Homestretch,
Thats a good play with a fair takeout. I don't know what kind of pools you will get. Most tracks show the pick 3 gets the least amount of action compaired to the amounts played on the other exotics.

If the Rainbow pick6 only gets a few hundred played then you have a real chance of 6 for 6 standing up as the only winning ticket. I might be a better play early before the carryover swells. Wink

at pocono the takeout does not matter cuz no ones bets there.they should increase the takeout ,and the p3 poools will barely hit 1k on a nightly basis regardless of the takeout

That's interesting.  My first thought was that making it a $1 minimum is missing the point.  It was the ten-cent minimum that made it so popular in GP.  Of course the ten-cent pick-7 in Pompano was a dismal failure because people kept hitting it for singles too frequently.  That won't happen with a dollar minimum.

Now, with a decent guarantee and a $1 minimum seems to make it probable that there will be little handle -- which means if you hit the 6, you have an excellent chance of hitting the jackpot.

Of course, for a ten cent play, you get two in each race for $6.40.  That's $64 at a buck a combo, and to me, that's too much considering the odds of hitting it.

Time will tell.

I follow your thought pattern and it does make sense -- IF you can pick 6 winners with a small investment.  At GP besides the ten cent minimum, the carryover is 40% while 60% goes to the winners.  If I read the PcD rules correctly, the majority of the winnings goes to the carryover, so if few people play, you will be dividing up a very small pot for your investment.

But, if you're that good at Pocono, go for it.
