I think the old rule of thumb was simply win price x place price of 2nd horse.

It doesn't work that way anymore, with all the computer assisted last second bets and so much money coming in from so many places. Those guys (the "pros") seem to hammer down the exactas to whatever they have figured out as "fair value" and leave the Win and Place pools alone pretty much. So you can get some disconnect.

you are correct That is why house Q are as good as they use to be .cause I use to have it in a pocket computer and did not do them and the little computer froze up from no use It cant be that forumla because two 5to one shots are worth 85 dollars .There has to to a another # to mutipy 5times5 times 3.5 and the the thrid # varies get smaller as the prices get larger Thanks anyway
