Who does it Burton?   Several have done it, including Lucpark and myself.

But all the time?   No that is more of a Niatross type thing which falls in the category of YOUR PAL.

Cut the nonsense is you have been guilty of it too or at least some equally depraved offense.

You aren't innocent...no way. poor baby

There is an arrogance and sense of entitlement that Gural oozes.

I understand it is the Mecca.
I am not saying it isn't.
I framed my picture from the winners circle there.

But really?

I am glad Sears went to Yonkers.

You aren't entitled to anything Mr Gural.

Earn it.

I'm sure he has no problems earning anything....its hard dealing with all the slots competition. I'm sure he's open to some advice from you on how he should 'earn it' drop him an e mail and tell him what to do, i'll bet he would appreciate it.

Number #1 The guy is trying to break even in his first few years as mush as he can. When he took over, he said we will lose money the first 4-5 years and we expect that. Well he saw the Handle spike this year and is trying to keep that going.

Number#2 If any of you believe he did this without the promise of slots eventually, you who thought that are idiots.

there is no way he would do this if he wasn't promised eventually he would get them

Number#3. You think him and his investors would drop 100 million on a new grandstand for the hell of it?? No He knows where the old grandstand sits will be his casino, he is no dummy.

For those of you thinking he is ready to bail cause of his letter... Please, think of something else. He knows that when he get's it, it will be a gold mine and he will still keep racing upfront and center. All he is trying to do know is reduce his loses as much as possible. If you can't see that well, you are an idiot.

By The Way, last Fri they handled 2.7 million, tonight 2.939. All they need is competitive fields and they still can handle 3 mill with an 11 race card on Friday. Tomorrows card is very competitive after races 1 and 2 and a 3.5 mil handle is not out of the question

I am not going to be one to tell owners where to race there horses, but after seeing what this man does, When he get's slots, I would want to be on his good side so I can race for the best purses in the country.

Jeff is trying hard.   I hope horsemen support him and support their customers the gamblers.

So, in other words, you're an "idiot" if you don't think Jeff Gural is God, Himself.

And I guess you're Mr. Brilliant, the typical guy who thinks wealthy people never make mistakes or lose money.  So clueless...

Are you aware that Ted Turner, now worth approximately $2 billion lost roughly $7 billion on the AOL/Time Warner merger?

OK, so here is what happened with Gural:
He got the idea a few years ago to lease the Meadowlands. Then he called some architects and construction companies to see what a new facility would cost in an industry that was dying.
Then he went to all of his buddies with money and sold him on the idea of big returns on "The New Meadowlands."
And of course, these people with money are idiots, and ponied up almost $100 million in a shitty economy.
Then Gural said to himself,"Boy, I would really like to get a casino in East Rutherford, and if I pray long enough I just might get my wish." "But if not, harness racing is coming back and I will still profit."
That's how it happened...
OR...
He did his due diligence in Trenton and realized that they elect Governors every 4 years and the other politicians come and go as well.
He saw that there is big interest in his plan in North Jersey and probably had some assurances that it would go through.
Then he looked at the NJ economy and realized that a gold mine would eventually be welcomed in East Rutherford, because AC has been gasping for years.
You can't polish a turd, and at this point, that is what AC is, and he and a lot of people who count in this state know it.
South Jersey, at least south of say, Toms River was a wasteland prior to the first few casinos, and will revert to that. AC is a cesspool with or without casinos.
The money will shift to North Jersey instead of AC. Tough to miss in the biggest metropolitan area in the US.
The greedy politicians will jump when the chance comes to built in East Rutherford, possible as soon as the next administration change in Trenton.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gural became a big supporter and doner for a Christie for President campaign. It would get him out of the way, and would likely usher in a more supportive administration for a casino.
And no, I do not think JG is God. Not at all.  I do think he understands New Jersey and how things get done here.
After seeing all of this, he made a move. Is it guaranteed to work? No. Is it more likely than not? Absolutely.
