Does anyone know how long it would take for the photo finish to be received by the judges? I have always been curious about this, and heres why.
In todays 4th race at Calder, there was a fairly close finish. It appeared outside horse won, but inside horse came back a little and got the bob. Within maybe less than 10 seconds they just put the numbers up, 1-4. I am not disputing the finish. My question is that at many other tracks, when judges call for a photo is takes several minutes (especially California), why would Calder put numbers up in seconds? in fairness they showed photo after the replays.

The placing judges see the "photo" almost instantaneously after a race because it is all electronic.

Thanks Terry thumbs up. That's what I thought but it seems like certain tracks take minutes before they post numbers. Calder placed these results in seconds.

It depends how close it is and if the stews need to 2nd guess the placing judges.

Plus there's probably state-to-state rules I don't know.
