Cullerton took the reconsider hold off on Jan 8?  So its becomes law Mar 10?   Is this correct?  Slots at the airports?   May be  the best place to play.  Past the security checks.

Buzzkill he will veto that bill.  That bill was poorly written and did not benefit the state.  Quinn was actually write on that one being to top heavy.  There were stipulation for new casino owners getting many years to pay off a casino licence.  If anything gets done the state needs money know.  There are billions in unpaid debt from past two years.  I'm sure there working on a new one currently but remember pension reform is the three headed monster that they will try to slay in the coming months.

He has not vetoed it yet, but he will in the next week or so.

Would be nice if he forgets, though.

Is there any good reason he is dragging it on, rather than taking care of it the day after the last Assembly was officially dissolved?

Great question, Terry.  I talked to our lobbyist today, and he said they know of no reason why he'd sit on it.

Did you ask the lobbyist if there are any trailer bills or other new bills in the works?

Yes.  No trailer bill because nobody expects him to sign 744.

Waiting to see the new comprehensive expansion bill.  Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.  Don't expect anything to happen til May.

Lang had a great quote today in the Tribune. Only the Governor and Rahm have been negotiating. No lawmakers have been involved.  Lets get real.  Slots at the racetracks are DEAD DEAD DEAD.

I'm guessing yes for additional casino's in a gaming bill with no slots at tracks.  However I think they go back to a 3% tax from those new casino's that goes to horse racing.  Should that be fair, would that be enough for racing to survive, would recapture be eliminated, and would racing lobbyist pass this on to there people saying it's the only deal.  Also has to be IRON CLAD no way possible that as long as these casino's are up and going that the 3% gets taken away from racing. Know this deal wouldn't help reshape Illinois racing as far as breeding, bringing in better sires, no big sires program for two and three year old, or retirement funds for trainers.  It may keep some owners around, it will boost overnight purses, and give trackowners some additional dough.  At that point it's up to horse racing to improve on their product and to go forward.  My opinion slots have ruined horse racing not helped.  It has also ripped dreams away from people just look at Ontario.

It's a bit early to come to that conclusion, Buzzkill.  Here's why.  Of all the potential new licenses, the Chicago casino is the only one to be owned by the city it's located in.  Plus, it's 4000 positions would make it the state's largest casino by far. The City's cut is huge.

If you think back to Quinn's objections to last year's bill, it centered on oversight of the Chicago casino, and he wanted more money to go to education.  Rahm wants to keep as much as he can, Quinn wants some of it.  Then, they have to agree on the tighter ethical controls Quinn wants.

We've seen that lawmakers can't jam something down these guys' throats.  So it's a good thing they reach an agreement and take it lawmakers for inclusion in a new bill.  The key is them leaving our part alone.

Lang oftetimes confuses me.  Is he or is he not a friend of racing ?
I hear ya, njc.  I think he's a friend of racing, as long as it fits with his own agenda.
