Beobob, a post like that can get you banned around here.  CD made the bulk of their money off their casinos.  Horse racing was down.  CD blamed it on not hosting the BC last year.  Being a stockholder, I did not reap rewards much except that I got my AP pass today.  The stock is holding around $66, way better than my betting results, so I guess that is a reward.

thanks for posting half your balance sheet in an attempt to impress the unknowing,

now that yiu have your assets listed please inform us of your mortgage balance and let us know by how much it exceeds the homes basis. then if you would take time, if you have a lot of it, and list all your credit card balances and the rest of your obligations, the 2nd mortgage, your school loans, how much you owe your parents and your wifes parents etc, so we can assess your true net worth.

assets = liabilities and equity.
equity = assets-liabilities.

thanks ac/dc your a real bisexual confused tax paying american.

"The success of Churchillís dominant account-wagering platform, twinspires.com, also has its downside, especially where horsemen are concerned, because the business is likely growing at the expense of ontrack wagering. An ontrack wagering dollar generates far more revenue for local horsemen than a bet through an account-wagering platform, where the rewards accrue primarily to the owner of the platform."

We do have one screwy business model. The tracks and the horsemen pay all the overhead and take all the risk, and the ADWs take what would normally be our profits without any skin in the game.

The worst part, in our case, is CDI via Twin Spires robbing the purse account of the alleged partners (horsemen) of a CDI track, namely Arlington, all in the name of corporate profit. You would think if they were serious about the idea of the racing at their tracks becoming more appealing and generating more revenue via wagering that the purse accounts at CDI tracks would get a big boost from Twin Spires, but that doesn't seem to be how they've set things up. One branch of CDI, Twin Spires, seems to operate in direct competition with, and to the detriment of, other branches of CDI, namely its racetracks.

I wonder if anyone has ever done a study to see how much of the handle generated by the ADWs is cannibalized from the host track and how much wouldn't have been bet without the ADW.

If they put you and me in charge of fixing this we could fix it chop chop. Getting 5% or so of money that wouldn't have been bet otherwise is a good deal, but getting 5% of what would have been bet on site stinks.  If there isn't a higher home state take out % for the host track than out of state, there should be. Use your influence to get us authorization.

I think that's part of the issue that's simmering between tracks and horsemen in Illinois. Horsemen want better deal; owner of AP wants things to stay the same because Twin Spires is more important to them than AP.
