Site seen last week.... The legend in his own mind, (John Franks) walking in circles around the Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee. Sure looks like he has been on a couple year bender. Not a pretty site! OFO

Come on guys. I don't want this site turning into the other ones. John Frank has always been very polite with me. I wish everyone could just bury the hatchet.

Let me know when John returns--then maybe I might return to Dick's Dungeon.
Is it me or has the exterior of AP Trackside gone to the dogs?

Be careful when you approach John Frank. Check to see what stage of drinking he is in. Caught him a few weeks back at the end of the day and he was in a very hostile mood. He started shouting all kinds of comments at myself and people around me. Believe me, we tried to ignore him and concentrate on the horse action, but he kept at it and confronted us. That was when it was time to leave.
That was not the friendly John Frank I met all the time at Trackside and AP. He was in character as the wild poster who once filled up these boards. No, we did not bait him or stir him up. We said hello and tried to carry on a conversation, but soon found out to let him alone. I don't know if he was going through a bad period in his life or what, but I do not want to see that John Frank again.

APCD Dan, now you can see what the demon alcohol brings out in people - their REAL selves. John Frank is nothing more than a drunken, blowhard, plain and simple... OFO

Chicago must be a very scary place... this thread is not exactly hyping the tourism angle.

We seem to go through this every six months or so where everyone who John has pissed off through his internet rages hates him and everyone who knows him from the track or his house painting likes him. Just depends on who you are I guess

This is different. This happened in person at Trackside. I have never experienced this kind of behavior from John in person before. Before this incident, I felt the same way you do.

[/quot You ever met him "pal"?....or is just another guy he hated on the internet? You use the word psychotic pretty casually...guess you probably have never really had to deal with mental illness

Probably just had a rough day of wagering and was taking it out on anyone nearby. Wouldn't be the first guy who ever did that.

Dan, I hanged out with the guys over by the bar (2nd floor Trackside) for years and years. I lknew John for a long time and we talked about lots of things. One time, I said something to him and based on his responses, I avoided him. He was surly. Not sure what was going on, but I know what you referring to.
