Payoff Hagler? ~~ The judges took the payoff,Haglar beat that boys ass that night!

the leonard fight was hagler's biggest payday in his career
he altered his style for that fight did what he could to make leonard look good and really still won the fight he could have easily crushed leonard and did not
took the $19-20 million kept his mouth shut and never fought again

I was in Easton, PA few years back and Larry Holmes was sitting on 4 milk crates in front of a bodega. He was with 3 other guys that looked like Fred Sanford and Grady. I hope he saved some money and is not one of those sad stories about boxers losing everything.
To answer the topic, Joe Frazier got me interested in boxing, and Mike Tyson made me stop watching.

Holmes was the most underrated fighter EVER!

"He never beat anyone"  Well, he beat everyone he fought.  It was Holmes fault because he fought Ali long after Ali should have hung them up?  People also hated him for beating up on Joe Frazier's kid.

Twenty successful title defenses, second only to Joe Louis.

Jack Johnson fought in the outdoors for many rounds until someone could not answer the bell. Also married a white women and dealt with major racism. Think they used 5 ounce gloves also which was like getting hit with bare knuckles. Saw a film of him beating Jess Willard last month. Guy was a major figure for boxing.

That's one opinion.

I, for one, was never that impressed.  IMO, he took the Floyd Patterson route to the championship -- never fighting anyone good.  Mancini was a crowd pleaser and good for boxing, so they gave him an easy road to the top.

Tyson show was really good and started this past year. He answers any question asked and his wife takes no crap from him. Mike seems to be on the right path but who knows.
