Homestretch,
You must recall the terrible fire that swept through one of the Capital Hill barns in the summer of ’78. Two men and forty horses were killed. Only one horse was led away from that barn. The other forty or so were flat in their stalls. I think there were another sixty or so on the grounds that weren’t affected.

Mr Karamia was one of my favorites. He was killed in that fire.

The track looked bad and it was snowing, probably a weather/safety issue.
