Elmo was raced over his head last year. They started him off in March with a loss in an inv at Balmoral, and then shipped him to Woodbine. He was buried by Golden Receiver in the Spring Pacing Championship—a couple of legs and a final—then he was beaten in a series of opens at Woodbine and in the Molson at Western Fair. He finally beat nw 25 in June, and was immediately thrown back in the preferred and open classes for several weeks. He then raced over his head in the Canadian Pacing Derby. Disaster.

How much did he earn in that disasterous 2012 campaign?
I don;t blame the owners for going with the gusto last year.
There wasn't lots of depth in that class and the horse actually got close with those types the year before.
I think he developed the losing habit last year.
With three wins he maybe brave again and who knows?
But I do think he made some decent cash last year.
Anyone tell us what he earned in 2012 and 2011?

I agree 100% Burton.   I would hope if they decide to try and push him back to the top they take it in progression and at the least move him east to race in the Meadowlands conditions, he could go with many of those in A-1/A-2 right now.

Idk how much weight Darrin's crew will put on winning in Chicago, he isn't facing much out there at all.

Elmo sat at the back while the boys up front went the fastest opening half ever at Mohawk, :52.2. He closed for fourth on the far outside but he wasn't close to the trio fighting for the win. They made money on the race but when you prove week after week after week that you can't beat the open or preferred WEG horses the CPD doesn't seem like a great option. He wasn't 90/1 by accident.

How does Elmo rate earnings wise the last two seasons against another local here Freddy Scooter?

I think Elmo has earned another chance to battle the big boys..

He seems real sharp right now & other then Golden Receiver looks like he could compete with a-1 a-2

In 2011 and 2012 Freddy earned 262K while Elmo earned almost 508K during the same period. So Elmo, who is a year younger, made twice as much money during that period.

Elmo has a valid passport. He has raced in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ontario. Freddy, on the other hand, has no passport, hence he has never raced outside of Indiana. Apparently if he so much as steps outside the state he will be deported to parts unknown.

HIS TRAINER IS VERY HAPPY RACING HIM THERE.
MUCH LIKE THAT "GUD" TROTTER FROM CANADA, HE FINALLY VENTURED HAD A GREAT GO ON THE ROAD AND THEN WENT REALLY REALLY BAD.
HE PROTECTS THAT INVESTMENT.

Reliable and accurate info tells the story on this one.
Here's hoping Elmo can stay sound and see if he can compete at a higher level once again.
