To quote the article attached by JournalStuff:
"The date reduction, which is supported by the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, was one of several equine safety initiatives approved by the NYRA Board at its most recent meeting Jan. 25"
Translation into proper Queen's English:
NYS R&B only cares about racing dates when it concerns Racino slot revenue. Nothing else. This has NOTHING to do with "equine safety initiatives". Has to do with the fact that NYS R&B deemed that Aqueduct slots revenue will be the same whether The Big A runs live on Wednesday's or not.
Thanks for the article JournalStuff. NY Racing needs a watchdog!!! God knows NYRA and NY R&B aren't watching.
Amen brother!!! When a horse breaks down it's tragic. Unfortunately horses cannot recover from their injuries the way most other athletes can. The onus for running a lame horse is on the trainer and the state vet for allowing it to run. Not the track for having live racing in the first place.
