lol, you know!

btw: all fish were released to fight another day.....

Give a man a fish you feed him for a day

Show him how to fish you feed him for life.

I believe it was Jesus Christ who said that. Fish are meant to be eaten. Period.

Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to get into heaven....so what does he know.

if JC tied flies like cecil127 he'd see that keeping every single fish is a lil "excessive".  dont think JC was into wasting his creatures....
it'd take me all day to find fish takers for all my fine finned friends.  plus there'd be a lot less the next day i trudged down to the river...in 2-3 feet of snow, uphill...both ways.

lol..."uphill" to the river laughing guy

I suffer from diabetes and fish are good for diabetics. There are some mean hombres on this board who have wondered out aloud on many occasions why I didn't die of the disease yet but thats a story for another day.

I wish I lived in your neighborhood. You would be my prime source for fresh fish. Don't you worry about their 'being a lot less the next day'.

Each fish produces eggs by the thousands.

You forgot to mention it was also five miles both ways. Please get your trudging stories straight.

What river did you pull that nice trout out of?

but, but its only 2.2 miles to the fishing hole from my cabin....thats not 5 miles round trip! thumbs down
guess i gotta pick a new "favorite spot" a lil further downstream. Cheesy

salmon river, ny.

just a lil fwi: ny encourages people to only eat 2 meals of these type (great lake run) fish per month due to the nature of the larger fish holding greater amounts of PCB's/mercury in them.  so im thinkin, "chit, if they dont want me to eat 2 meals a month- i dont want the first one." laughing guy  no "heavy metal" dinners for cecil127, thanks Wink

but honestly i do keep a lot of perch/bluegills while ice fishing.  the meat is nice and firm/delicious and i only keep the bigger ones cause im not all that skilled w/a fillet knife.  im working on icing my first walleye this winter but Ma Nature isnt taking it easy on me.  freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw, flood, lake effect snow...etc. i hear thats the bomb diggity dog of fish to eat-poor mans lobster etc.  they're not readily caught around here so a cabin excursion is required-and ive been saving up my brownie pts round the house to ensure an extended stay next time thumbs up

The way the standard story goes, it's "five miles there and five miles back, uphill both ways, 30 below in a blinding blizzard".

Geez you have to catch 100 of the things to get half a serving!

While I do like trout, walleye is some gooooood eatin'. The next door neighbor when I'm in Montana is an avid walleye fisherman, tournaments and so on, and generally has quite a bit to share. I guess it's pretty big around Illinois and Wisconsin, too, but I've never been.
