I said it last year, Id rather see bigger state bred races run.  Id rather the money go to local trainers who run operations from this state and run here year around.

I don't think there's a bettor on earth that wants to see more Illinois state-bred races run

in 4 of last 20 yrs neither the ky or preakness winners won the 3yo colt award one of them was rachel ( so that would be 3 in the last 20 years then)
how would you like your humble pie ?

i typed 2 in the last 20, you typed 3 in the last 20..

.. dunno..i am not sure how humbling that is, Huh

whats really of humor to me... Grin
you actually took the time to look up that up, just to attempt to prove me wrong, and I was off by 1 colt..

the difference is, and see if you can grasp the difference
the idea i had, the concept brought to the table for discussion
what i typed was from memory and i was materially on concept

what you typed,
your devisive bullshit,
involved research and had nothing to do with what you already knew

attack someone else next time you are bored,

and I'll type what I please , when It pleases me, not when you permiss it

They have that in this next book for 3 year old fillies, 17.5nw2 IL bred

The bonuses are top notch IMO. The 40% owners bonus on open races for a non concieved is one of the best in the country.

The 11.5% for breeders is a little low but considering how most governments are targeting that subsidy (see Indiana), I feel its great.

Getting back to the original subject, Tim Carey explains the reasoning in this news story, if you haven't seen it already:

Lets boost the purse of the ILL derby by 250k and market it as a prep for the preakness now LOL, that "genius" thinking will just continue to run rampant here forever i suppose. lets see the last 4 winners (although done talking is still in training) won a combined ONE race between them since winning the ILL derby and it was cheap little stake at tampa, joe vann became a horse that couldnt win a claimer. maybe this year theyll attract a field of atleast half maidens lolololololol. this is just 1 example of hawthornes/illinois stubborness and refusal to change even when things are going sh1tty.

the race should be moved to the fall meet maybe.  no centerpiece race for the spring meet then you say? then swap the gold cup with it if thats a must. or sadly scrap the race altogether and use the 750k and possibly make a claiming crown type day with a card full of stakes that would probaly generate way more handle than just 1 race which has become horrific on talent the last few years
