I'm a little too close to a couple of these guys.  Just wondering where the PPK driving colony rates in the opinion of others?

Ahead of _______

Behind _________

Well, I really think Ranger, Wallis and Hennessy would do well anywhere.  I don't follow the races there everysday, but I also am not afraid to bet on Romano  Ingraham and Sells.  I think Ranger and Hennessy are getting long in the tooth, but isn't Wallis a relativly young guy?  I would rate the colony about equal with Balmoral and ahead of Northfield but behind the Medowlands and Yonkers.

I'm thinking, as a group, they are well ahead of Detroit, Cleveland & Cal.  Obviously behind M1, YR & Pennsylvania.  How about Saratoga & Chicago?

At Saratoga Hennessey batted 19.2% while he is only 15.6% at PPK.

I would rate the colony about equal with Balmoral and ahead of Northfield but behind the Medowlands and Yonkers.

PPK group for the winter is Ranger, Hennessey, Wallis, Dillander & Plano.

Chicago group is Warren, Oosting, Leonard, Sutton & Roberts(?).

Dean Magee = Dave Ingraham.
Sam Widger = Tom Sells.

That Sells fellow is just learning the ropes.  Give him another 10 years & he'll be at the very top at Century Village Raceway!

I saw enough of Jason in Chicago.  Does better in  FL, what does that tell us.

I know Marcus Miller is leaving, and once he does I might rate the Pompano group as slightly better than Balmoral

Ranger and Wally by themselves make the Pompano colony better....Wallis is a proven pro also, regardless of history. When you factor in some of the other H o F types that winter there, even if they only do drive trotters,(Ritchie & O'Donnell)....it's not even close. I would rate them behind the group that mainly handles the metroplex area...M1/YR/Chester-Pocono....as most of them are all the same. Great post.

Thanks, Mel.

No more O'Donnells or Ritchie's or anyone really.  But Wallis has been tearing it up this winter while Pavia has been nothing.  Those bigger stables may still have their young ones on the training tracks but they almost never race at PPK anymore.  And apparently the top drivers don't mind the cold winters up north.  PPK no longer has a big race since they ended the Isle of Capri a few years ago.
