Colt Eclipse at Stake in 145th Belmont Stakes - 6/8/2013

well the colt eclipse award is up for grabs after the lackluster performance by the derby winner in Maryland, Orb. perhaps it is his large hooves that grab the sand at Churchill better than most in the slop that made his day, or perhaps he had a bad day at Pimlico.

he will run in his home state where he stables, and if he is not win or place at Belmont park, it would be tough to make a derby slop winner the colt eclipse award winner.

the 145th Belmont stakes will have much sway in the voting for the colt HOY

i do believe orb is the only colt w 2 g1 wins so far this year.unless oxbow wins the belmont orb will still be the frontrunner for 3 yo colt.
even if oxbow wins the belmont orb at worst will be tied for the top spot.
better wait until after the travers to rule orb out of the running for 3 yo colt champion
