The best are the wisconsin casino otbs.  Smoke free.  Drf/ program kiosks.  Free unlimited self serve soft drinks, coffee, juice.   Separated from casino enough to not hear slot noise.  Full track payouts.   Can play roulette between races.

I enjoy Shark City, plenty of room, comfortable chairs, decent beverage prices, good food real close for after the races.Plenty of tvs.

Is there one anywhere in Wisconsin just across the border, like Dairyland used to be? Until such time as daytime host track reverts to Hawthorne, I think I'd like to avoid the Illinois parlors.

Terrible place. Smoke-filled room.  The OTB part was small, although I heard they were building a new one some place in the current facility.  Located in an industrial area.  Access to and from casino from roads not great.

The new one in Hoffman Estates is very very nice, especially if your a non-eater or slow drinker.  Anybody heading out there on a Saturday or Sunday let me know and we can say hello.

Ive heard good things about hoffman.  The arlington otbs always have me trapped. I wanted to go to hoffman after depaul/sju game.  I couldnt because I had winners and scratched tix to collect.  I ended staying at trackside.  Ive told my friends if hoffman not crowded we have to go there because closer than trackside and stanleys restaurant/bar area is very good but otb section worst in state.

The Hoffman Estates OTB is a mirror/clone of the "Turf Room" in North Aurora. It's not completely the same (brighter for sure than NA), but really similar, SAME owners. It's not going anywhere, the Owner I believe made his mark with the Card Rooms in Minnesota, and has had huge success with his North Aurora location, even though  would say the OTB has slow business most of the time.

The times I have been to North Aurora, it seems like the bar out front is doing most of the business to keep the place afloat.

But who knows, all an OTB needs is one or two big $$ regulars to keep the place in business.

I'm a big fan of Sam's Triple Crown in Orland Hills. It's an Arlington OTB.
It's clean, the food is very good and inexpensive.
Plus, the have very good homemade Italian food on Wednesday's.

Terry, do the otb's get a percentage of the money being bet from their facility or how does it work?

In other states restaurants get a %.  Illinois not sure?   I had tickets from stanleys yesterday to cash but I cashed and played today at nicolinos.  I had a good time watching the game at stanleys yesterday with a happening crowd.  The otb was as always disgusting.  The desks were so dusty it was making everyone sick.  They probably have never dusted.  Nicolinos was crowded but clean.

I think the OTB operator (AP or Haw or whatever) pays something to the restaurant owner, but I don't know what.

The OTB operator itself does keep part of the takeout, but has to cough up a great deal of it to the "host track", whether that's its own parent or some other one with the precious dates.

Bloomingdale  off Bloomingdale Rd. just north of Army trail Rd. on the west side in the corner of shopping center that has a Jewel in it.I think its Greenway Rd. the stoplight to turn into plaza.

Went to saddle room a few times recently including today.  Its ten times better than south elgin which is my closest option.  Saddle is a few miles further in a different direction.  Many players from south elgin have been there which shows they are stealing arlingtons customers.  Saddle is more horseplayer friendly like arlingtons rockford.  South elgin closes the little room and stuffs everyone in an ugly room that looks like it used to be a chop shop.  On days they rent out the chop shop they stuff everyone into the little room which is unbearable. The downside for saddle room is prices for food and drinks might be 30% higher than other otbs? The quality is high and you are paying for quality.  They dont have much signage promoting the place but maybe when triple crown races and summer heats up so will saddle room?  For now with no adw its nice to go to a comfortable otb with available seats in a clean facility.

Went to the one in Villa Park last week,  tons better than the Oakbrook location mainly because of the little cubbyhole room,  that room is nice with the comfy seats and large screen TV's.

Also the machines are all new and better than the 3 new machines they have at Oakbrook.

They also play audio for each race,  Oakbrook only played GP and I assume Haw now.
