There couldn't be a more accurate statement!
When I win regardless of traffic or distance, it makes the ride much more palatable than if you lose Grin Grin

Agree the 13th at Maywood stinks.  I'm in the 12th Friday night dreading the drive already.  50 miles doesn't seem far and feel for the horse and grooms with a 3.5 hour trip back to Springfield.

Wanna talk about a tough ride home....Mohawk or Woodbine back to Buffalo. Seems like broader patrol is relentless coming back, checking trunk, etc.
They always ask how much is in your wallet, if I win, I am afraid to say because I am not sure what you have to say?

last spring a horse i was in on was racing at tioga, goes off as the fav and chits the bed completely. rained cats and dogs the whole ride home. 3 hours of hell.
same nag was racing in the 14th or 15 race at pocono a few weeks later..same senario except this time she was a t long odds and raced as such.  just watched the replay again today and i can still see my head drop at the finish line as the whole reality set in of how long id been waiting for the race, how much i had into the filly and how long the ride home was gonna be.....funny now. not then. Cheesy

One night I won big at Mohawk and cashed in all my Canadian money, I went back few years later and the rate exchange was nearly even...should have just left and kept the Canadian $$ doh doh bang head bang head

I had to go into the casino and got 90 Canadian for 100 US !
At the end of the day, I tried to exchange it back, and was told the conversion had to be done at a bank !

That whole money exchange thing was and still is a complete scam.
At Flamboro Downs, you get a different amount if you exchange at the track, then walking down a flight of stairs and exchanging in the casino...it was drastic...few bucks...but it made no sense bang head bang head bang head bang head
Fort Erie was good because they had separate windows to bet US and Canadian.

The laugh was on them !!!
Jimmy wound up 2nd in the cup as a longshot because of a disqualification !!
It was hard to believe, the horse that won broke at the wire and was lapped on by 3 horses !!
Almost 500K race, 1st, placed 4th !!

I never think that way cause it can always be worse.

The mare goes off at 12/1 the following wk and gets second !

The faster trotter blows a fcking quarter crack in the qualifier he won.
Shit the fcking track is so damn hard I swear the state vets trying to break my horses down just asking for qualifiers .

I started taping all the lame horses racing since .

ITS A LONG WAY HOME EVEN WITH A CHECK
$3200 PURSE AT 5% $160 MINUS $25 FOR DRIVER= $135 LASIX $15= $120 PADDOCK $50= $70 SHIPPING $50 =$20
So you finish 5th and you get 20 dollars and maybe your trainer get 30 dollars a day in Illinois .
In turn you GOT A CHECK ON RACE DAY AND LOST 10 DOLLARS
Even if the horses wins the race by the end of the month with all the bills you won't make much money
