A couple of interesting pedigrees in Gulfstream Race 6 today

#1 COMANCHERIA 20/1 ml. Illinois Bred colt, by EMPIRE MAKER out of the dam LEISURELY KIN. 3yr old colt was bred by Team Block and sold at Keeneland in September 2011 for $195k. I remember one sib SECRET KIN wining a ton of money locally. Debuted in a main track sprint and passed tiring horses, finishing a well beaten 7th. Routes on grass today in second start and gets lasix. Jonathan Sheppard trains.

#2 MIDDLEBURG 10/1 ml. Christophe Clemente trained colt by Lemon Drop Kid will debut today for trainer who in my opinion is the very best in North America with horses debuting, going two turns on the grass. The works are solid as usual and top turf jock Jose Lezcano will take the call. The dam RUM CHARGER also gave us Secretariat winner WINCHESTER.

195K is alot for an Illinois bred even if it's a Block homebred , Then I would have to ask why they sold .

Money in hand, that's why (IMO).

While I don't think the Block family is hurting for money, I have to imagine that $195K goes a looooong way toward keeping all of their horses fed and healthy, and all of the bills paid.

Let the dreamers gamble on unraced prospects...

I agree with the 2 in here that's my top pick in there. Clement is great with his turf horses. He's 23% with first timers. Has the turf pedigree too. A contender in here at a price.

Am gonna talk about a couple more first timers in here:

10. Jack Milton: first timer for pletcher and this one has had ok works in the mornings and I think War Front does good turf in the past. Pletcher typically does well first time starters too. 35%.

8. P V Paul: Has had okay works for the debut but I love the pedigree out of a Dynaformer. The trainer isn't the best with first timers but the pedigree says turf and its getting it.

It's a competitive race and anything can happen in here and my top 3 are 2-10-8. You can make a good case for like 5 or 6 of these in here.
