Dear daniel,

The Illinois Racing Board has instructed ALL licensed account wagering companies to cease accepting wagers from Illinois residents until further notice. The law authorizing account wagering recently expired and has not been renewed.

Effective Thursday morning, January 10th, Illinois customers will no longer be allowed to wager through TVG.

TVG's website will remain available to access funds and view or purchase handicapping information however wagering will not be allowed.

We apologize for this inconvenience and remain hopeful the law will be renewed in the near future.

Sincerely,

TVG Customer Service Team

Tiz true, believe it or not. Legislature left without renewing. Could be months before ADW legal again. It's mind-blowing, really.

State revenue from ADW in 2011 was almost $1.9 million.

How much revenue is the state losing?

Over $5000 per day?

Hell, we used to lose $10K a day in tollway till (ahem) "shrinkage" when it was an all-cash system, I'll bet.

Really, does a state as efficiently run and fiscally solvent as Illinois need 5 grand a day, anyway?

Not really. Actions (and inactions) speak louder than words. Based on the events of the past decade it seems pretty apparent to me that there is a strong desire by those with political clout to sink racing in this state. I'll leave the supposition of likely motives/agendas to others. It's really a shame.

The positive is that now they can get insured for when they crash into niatross.

Or, they can still scoot back to Mexico (or wherever home is) if they get into enough trouble, like the guy that clobbered my sister.

It's nice to have options.  thumbs up

Up here in McHenry County, the poker machines are doing well in the few months that they have been in action.  The bars are happy to have them and others are waiting in line to get in on the action.

On TV the other night they said the U.S. is already spending more $$$ on immigration enforcement than all other Federal law enforcement combined. I wonder if people would be willing to pay additional taxes to fund the robust enforcement of the borders and immigration they seem to think is needed to solve the illegal problem?

I don't know. How much?

And how would you propose getting the ones already here out of the country, when there's not enough money and manpower to keep additional ones from coming in, so we don't spend that money?

And when you do, who is going to do those cheap ass jobs that no one else wants to do, and what's going to happen to your cost of food, lawn care, cleaning services, non-union house repairs, asphalting, restaurant meals, etc.?

They're here, most are productive members of their community and provide services that allow business to keep prices low.  They aren't going anywhere.

Close the borders, give the ones here a path to citizenship. Problem solved.  Next.

11 BILLION to 22 BILLION is spent on welfare for illegals each year by state governments
22 BILLION is spent on food assistance programs...food stamps, free school lunches etc
2.5 BILLION is spent on Medicaid for illegals
12 BILLION is spent on primary and secondary education for illegal children
17 BILLION is spent on education for anchor babies (children of illegals)
3 MILLION a DAY is spent to encarcerate illegals
30% of all federal inmates are illegals
90 BILLION a year is spent on illegals for social and welfare services by the American Taxpayer
200 BILLION a year in suppressed American wages
As far back as 2006....45 BILLION was sent back to their countries of origin.

Ex Post Facto says you can't retroactively make something illegal.  So why should you retroactively try to make something legal.

Why not fine all these ADW $250,000 a day for every day they operate illegally and put Multi-Millions in the Purse Account and rake off a few dollars for 50 Cent Beer on Thursday afternoons.

It ain't legal til it's legal. ( Yogi Ybarra )

And produce a net positive of $150 billion a year.

But, if all your numbers are accurate, and meaningful (what the heck does "sent back to their countries" cost you? and certainly lower wages paid them is a BENEFIT to the US consumer), and not redundant (the $90 billion), then whatever is the real total, that's how much your fellow American employers who hire illegals are ripping you, the taxpayer, off each year. Illegals are like drugs - without a demand, they wouldn't be here. No jobs no illegals.

If you want rid of them so bad, press your legislators to levy big big fines against employers who hire them until it hurts so much the illegals can't work and have to self-deport  And then get ready to pay untold billions per year in higher prices for many goods and services.

So, all of those lawyers at CDI donít know a felony when they see one, or are they above the law? Obviously, CDI is thinking the penalty they will receive, if any, will be less than their ADW revenue since January 1st. They must be expecting a slap on the wrist. So far, the only ADW companies penalized are TVG and BetZotic because they have complied.  Looks like no one tells CDI and TwinSpires what to do.  Seems like they only abide by laws and use them when itís to their advantage.  Are they also in violation of the Wire Act because this is interstate, they are no longer State-licensed and are illegally operating in the State?

And, of course, itís the horse player who suffers and receives the most severe penalty with the loss of the legal use of ADW. Crazy times in Illinois.

Their position is that it does not matter where the bettor is located, and that existing interstate simulcasting law gives them the right to take any wagers from any state resident as long as the state allows parimutuel wagering and the track is not in that state. I think they're still the only outfit taking wagers from Texas residents, and they're fighting it tooth and nail in court.

They've got a giant flying wedge of lawyers that stays finely honed constantly filing lawsuits against horsemen and jockeys and other racetracks and various States and so on (and most recently, anyone who dares used the term "Kentucky Derby" in anything like a party promotion), so who knows, maybe it is something they can defend in court.

And when it comes right down to it, it's obvious the State of Illinois really doesn't care, so why should we? Party on, Garth.
