Blame the legislature, ADW is no longer legal in Illinois. The original law allowing ADW expired as of 12/31/12. The legislature never called the bill to extend it. There was an agreement to extend it for 6 months in a new bill, and the existing ADW companies would be grandfathered over the lapsed days. But then they tried to take $70 million away from horse racing, so the bill didn't get out of committee. So now the agreement under which the ADW companies have been taking bets has expired. Not sure if these links will still work. Here is the bill status: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/billstatus.asp?DocNum=4466&GAID=11&GA=97&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=63860&SessionID=84If you click on Full Text, and then Senate amendment 2, you get the final bill text: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09700HB4466sam002&GA=97&SessionId=84&DocTypeId=HB&LegID=63860&DocNum=4466&GAID=11&Session=If the above links have expired, or if the full bill isn't coming up, go to: http://www.ilga.gov/and type HB4466 in the search box. The new Build Illinois Schools Fund is at the top (underlined). The part about allowing the ADWs to take bets before the bill becomes law is on page 8. The part about horse racing losing $70,400,000 is at the bottom.

I think you can still bet out-of-state tracks. So far Twin Spires, TVG, and Xpressbet seem to be ignoring the lack of a law, at least for tbred bettors. This case is apparently about wagering on the Illinois track.

Yes, you can bet any track outside of Illinois. Illinois lawmakers think that since the TB's are idle..........there is no racing in Illinois.

They caved in totally today:
We regret to inform you that the Illinois Racing Board has requested that all online wagering providers cease accepting wagers from residents of Illinois. Effective Friday, January 18, our Illinois customers will not be permitted to wager at Xpressbet.com until further notice.
We apologize for the inconvenience this presents and will keep you updated on any progress towards a resolution. We look forward to once again serving your account wagering needs once this situation has been resolved.
Your account will remain active and you will have full access to live video, Pro Shop products, race information, race replays, free daily picks, as well as deposits, withdrawals, and account information.

How corrupt is the city of chicago and its representitives downtown? Why does everybody want to blame the horseman, drivers, triainers, stewards, and track management? How on earth could they let this happen? If i recall right since i did use to live here for 7 years and just moved back that BLAGO had a secret deal with the horse tracks depending on HEFTY amounts of money being donated? AM I RIGHT? So now AFTER all of Illinios and the city of chicago found out and he was convicted and sent to prison they STILL cant do anything? Dont you think after years and years of trying to get some kind of deal done, and all the governors sent to prison cant anything be done for the industry? The thouroughs have Arlington Park and Hawthorne contribute a LOT to the state as well as the harness. Everybody wants to blame the horseman and track management but what about the BS going on in politics? Losing millions of dollars daily by being stupid and ignorant about this issue..

When you get to the track, they will ask you for ID at the windows and if it says Illinois you will NOT be allowed to wager on out of state racing.
