Nobody mentioned Max Brewer? Had a great sound. The Fred Caposella of the harness world.
Have any of you heard Jason Settlemoir call a race? Too bad he has another job -- great race caller.

Is it just me or how can we talk about horse racing announcers and not mention Roger Huston? The voice of The Meadows, The Little Brown Jug, Ohio and PA fairs for years !! My other current/past favorites are Jake E. Lee-Roosevelt, Larry Lederman-Freehold, Greg Young-Northfield Park, Jim Beviglia-Pocono Downs. On the T-Bred side Tom Durkin, Trevor Denman and Dave Johnson. Three of the greatest below: Roger Huston, Herve Filion and David Palone

Roger Huston should have retired 10 years ago. Banjo mouth and needs more rings on his fingers.

Roger Huston should have retired 10 years ago. Banjo mouth and needs more rings on his fingers. Used to like Huston, but hes totally lost now. Annoying as ever, but has no clue what hes watching anymore. Mistakes galore. A nightmare to listen to. All kinds of pauses while he looks down to recall a name he forgot. Blah ......

As good as Lederman is calling races at Freehold, they seemed to allow him more leeway when he called them at Garden State Park. He was an absolute riot.
calling em at GSP i think he knew he didnt have much more than the people surrounding him listening... i agree 100% dad

Have you ever heard him ?? I mentioned "capable" never said great !! After all, that's not his full time job !! Can you call a race as good as Jason, and would you even try ?? How many people in the sport do you know who are that versatile and can be a marketing director, GM, and announce a little on the side ??

As far as Jason goes, he is a dedicated employee who has worked his way up the ladder and made something of himself !! You are employed as what ?? Pennyless and eating popcorn for dinner while using your 10 year old computer !!!

Why is it that horse owners will say anything just to keep naive people putting money thru the windows so they can profit from the purses. How about telling the truth?

Just keep taking all you can along with track management before the wheels come off.

If they weren't so greedy they would never have to do that John. They also want you to feel sorry for them after they screw the betting public (the people who support the entire industry) night after night.

Larry Lederman is great. Frank Salive did a great job. I like both Sam & Ken from M1. Jack Lee was good too. John Bothe in his M1 days was enjoyable.
Not so enjoyable are any of the PA harness announcers.

Well since I lived at Brandywine Roy was the best ever.....Anyone mentioning Gene Hart either never heard him call a race or thinks harness racing is Ice Hockey......Marv was even worse than him though when he was calling the last every night.....On the t-bred side......I love Durkins back up Imbriale (sp)......Not sure when you needed an accent to be a good caller came about but apparently it has......Trevor is the best ever at picking the winner when he is 8th......But I will never consider him one of the best because of his refusal to give the fractional times during the race.......Nothing is more important to the shape of the race then the pace.....When watching on TV you can see the fractions but being there live you cant.....The fractions should be a part of every race call
