I hear Maywood will be instituting a form of "harness" bingo beginning early next year.

Has anybody heard this or have any info on how it will work...

The only info that I heard is that Eleanor Flavin will be calling the numbers  JK

Thumbs up to Maywood for at least trying to be innovative with the addition of JD interviews & bingo...

No camel toe races or free corn- but real innovative ideas.... thumbs up thumbs up to maywood

Bingo is popular in that area Melrose Park / Maywood so it only makes sense
This is a joint Maywood / IHHA idea

Good job to everyone involved for making a difference  thumbs up

It's a cool concept and is being done at a few tracks.

Patrons coming live to Maywood will be given a free bingo card.  The card has 25 spaces.  Each space has an eventprinted on it that can happen during the night's races.

There are a total of 51 different events, so each card will have different events. Here are some samples of the events that will be printed on the cards:

Photo finish for win
Winning margin less than a length
Time at the 1/2 less than :58 seconds
Marcus Miller wins a race
An Illinois bred wins a race
Winning horse pays $15 or more
The 4 horse wins

So as things happen over the course of a night, the player checks off the circle on his card.  Several ways to win. Traditional bingo, fill in the highlighted "M" on the card, or fill the entire card.

Should be fun.  There are 51 different events. Since each card has 25 (center space is free) no 2 cards will be the same.

All of the events are things that happen regularly.

Doing or trying new promotions is the only way to get people into a racetrack.
Even though I am strictly at a track for betting horses...nothing else, I commend any racetrack for trying something to get people to attend.
If you think that approach is wrong, just attend Monticello. They never have any new promotions and the same 14 people have been at the track for the last 10 years. The game is dying a slow death, so people should be open minded when a track thinks of ways to attract people.
