He won't be back, Cecil.  He probably can't find a 9-1 shot to save his life, thus making him that hard up for the $20.

Right here James. Now just call the race and quit trying to make yourself out to be a celebrity with the nonsense race calls. Larry Lederman you aren't.  thumbs up

Nor will I ever be.  Larry's one-of-a-kind.

You've yet to define "nonsense" for me.

Nonsense is calling every horse and their odds, overannounciating names and a bad Lisp to boot. try doing that call at a track that actually has movement instead of Indian File line ups and the race would be over 1/2 way thru your call. Just thankful for the mute button. Very effeminate voice also. Please tell everyone what Yawnick Jingwas had for lunch as well. maroon

Kernel
I think you are making the argument against yourself...
Chester does have a lot of what you call indian file racing so I would assume the announcer needs to pass time...so calling driver & odds seems better then repeating the same thing every 10 seconds.

I personally like the guys calls & enjoy the fact that he doesnt scream in your ear ala Roger or Scott E.

To each his own....

Pennyless -- you must be hallucinating.  No lisp to speak of, tenor does not equal effeminate, and I can't find "overannounciate" in Webster for the life of me.

i actually like rogers "carnival barker" style.  i give props to anyone who can score a gig calling races.  try it once....
'cept that clown from northfield a few years back.....start the sentence at a nice pitch then drop it to "ba ba booo" bing crosby stlye by the end. he'd give ya the lineup at the 3/4 pole and by the time he was done baratoning through it they were across the wire and it was always: "and there they are..."

"And there they are"Huh??  that was the best he had dunno....and now he's looking for work laughing guy

James is not to blame for the Chester racing being uncompetitive, and if he fills spaces in the inevitable last-half non-action there (with the first-over horse often being found in a different Congressional zone than the leader) with editorial comments, he's to be commended for it.  I don't find him effeminate, and I don't hear a lisp. And I like to hear the off odds as they hit the gate, as it helps the old open-window analysis, though of course we all know that the open window does not exist, by jings.
