if ponder draws the 8 spot like last year, he may have to go some to beat spirit of a shark .. when ponder is good , he is very good, but he has shown signs of being a very quirky type

on clevelands battle page .. im seeing peter wrenn is scheduled to drive ponder, guessing that pierce will be driving at woodbine in the north americas cup elims .. spirit of a shark is tba .. its looking like getting 8 decent drivers is harder than getting a couple of very good horses and several decent ones

Anyone know why there's no Cambest Prince this year ??
He always proved he was competitive with the group they brought in for The Battle.

two-time Northfield Horse of the Year Cambest Prince suffered an apparent broken left rear pastern bone in a Preferred Handicap at The Meadows Saturday. Dave Palone was able to get him pulled up safely, even though the incident happened with the horse on the lead. A disappointed Jeff Cox, Cambest Prince’s trainer, says no definite decision has been made on the horse’s future, but the injury is not life threatening. Cambest Prince, now ten, took Horse of the Year honors here in 2003 and 2004

All over the place has been replaced by Whosurboy and Dr. No got the last spot in the battle. Should be interesting on who drives what. I am hoping for David Ingraham that he will get to drive Whosurboy instead. Since he committed to drive All Ove The Place for Mark Ford and now that horse is replaced with Whosurboy, he gets that assignment. MG--

He will definitely win his share, but with Palone there, if he is, then that could cut into his wins. I hope Palone goes 0 for ? MG--

THE GRIS STAR WILL SHINE BRIGHTLY ON BATTLE NIGHT!!! Yea, he is a legend in his own mind with exactly ZERO wins in the ole Battle. BTW, the last time they tried to light up the ole Grismore Star coincidentally was the night of the Northeast Blackout a couple of years ago.

Can anyone with inside Northfield knowledge confirm if Sturgeon drives drunk because he sure as hell kills any live horse he drives and swerves all over the track?

Northfield has cultivated good relationships with trainers like Mark Ford and Mickey Burke, thus virtually assuring they will send one of their horses to race there year after year.

Stride, those are weak numbers compared to recent Battle Nights. Also a usual Saturday has between 2900-3100 fans and about $1.2 - $1.3 in handle to begin with

just a guess on my part, i think both handle and attendance was down due in part to the fact the nfld could not simulcast the belmont .. and that was at 6.30pm .. the cleveland people who were at thistle didnt stay or go down to nfld ..still the numbers have to be disappointing..especially the overall handle

There is some heated discussion regarding this race on a couple of threads but I thought Ponder ran one hell of a race. All things considered I thought second place was a good acomplishment. I couldn't pull the trigger betting wise because I thought the price was too low from the 8 hole. Why couldn't Northfield simucast the Belmont Stakes?
