My observation, and I have been watching for some time, is that jockey Amanda Tamburello is a pretty capable jockey when she gets the horses. Last night (and all of the day yesterday), she had only one mount, at Mountaineer, in the feature 8th race. She wins on the 4th pick at 5 - 1 in a 6 horse field, in a 5 furlong event, breaking sharp enough, but then rating her horse back to last, and then catching the leaders in the stretch on a tiring track. She beat the even money favorite, and the second pick at 5 - 2. This girl has talent, but gets limited rides.
Well, today's hunch is Amanda riding in the second race at Churchill today. She is riding "Only Win", her only mount on the day. The horse was claimed by trainer Matt Kordenbrack last out for $10,000. Earlier this year, the gelding won a $25,000 claimer at 5 1/2 furlongs at Tampa Bay (nice time of 1:03.45). Also won at Hoosier this summer. Kordenbrack had entered another horse in today's race, and that horse was a last out winner at Mountaineer. I think he feels Only Win is ready to go today, and thus scratched Lunar Pass. Going six and a half furlongs, I like Only Win's chances under Amanda today. Will probably be the favorite, but not a prohibitive favorite. Good luck if you back this horse and jockey.
