Just curious to get your opinions on how much time off some of you give your 3 year olds turning 4.
I have a 3yo that has about 20 starts under his belt this year and plan on giving him 30 days.
I'd like to here any advice on bringing them back or how you do it.

Thanks,

Everyone has different opinions on this.
But I believe and letting the horse tell me .
Mine come home and they are so happy but then by the mide of th 3 month I see a change some get pouty or mean with other horse but I believ in 90 days if they have any slight injury or sprain or strain we don't know about usually 90 days fixes many things also depends on turnout mine get turned ou on12 acres and the stud is turned out on3 with his mare.
But I'm ol school!

I  never liked letting the 3 and up horses down all the way. big turn out paddocks with light jogging every third or fourth day for me was ideal. i used the 3 to 2 formula, 3 days coming back for 2 days off. every situation dictates the individual circumstances, but i feel this is a good basic formula.

biggest things are: were they injured and what class race are they returning to ? always thought a qualifier and 1 or 2 easy races helped put the icing on the cake.
