I never liked letting the 3 and up horses down all the way. big turn out paddocks with light jogging every third or fourth day for me was ideal. i used the 3 to 2 formula, 3 days coming back for 2 days off. every situation dictates the individual circumstances, but i feel this is a good basic formula.
biggest things are: were they injured and what class race are they returning to ? always thought a qualifier and 1 or 2 easy races helped put the icing on the cake.
