And just what is the criteria for deserving slots. I guess the 40,000 jobs and support of every major labor group in Illinois isn't enough? I know that breeding world champions and being represented in every major market in the country isn't enough. I guess a hundred years of racing horses isn't enough. I guess the fact that our brood mares are being sent to all the SLOT mecca's in the country isn't enough. I have a friend in Indiana. I'm gonna call him and see if he can enlighten me as to why they DESERVED them and we don't. A state where agriculture is 70% of our economy isn't enough. This ain't Hawaii pal.

How is getting rid of the undesirables Dave's job?   Do you think he liked getting beat by Pete Procopi for leading trainer last year at Maywood?  You're a moron.  Are you going to take my offer?   $1,000.  Let's go!!!!

Hey Dalrae, start in Springfield with that clean up thing. As long as we are re-electing guys awaiting sentencing with a 70% plurality and keeping Jesse on board till we can pick a successor, and setting records for convicted Governors nothing will change. Give us slots and you won't see 50% of the guys in the bike here anymore. The state has poisened the well all by themselves by denying us slots. They have resurrected the careers of many a driver we thought we would never see again. And dats the truth.

Why are we wasting this much space on mid west hillbilly racing?

Who cares ?
The horses are garbage.
The drivers suck.
And the trainers are white trash.

Luc... You're 100% correct in your assesment and Dave is not respected by the politicians and has no pull with govt. officials. He needs to go, and racing needs new leadership in Illinois.

Don't waste your money on any Ill. Breds.
Buy a ny bred and have some real fun !

I am not on the inside but as an outsider, I have to agree with Luc's assessment..(not necessarily the verbage but the message)

Fool me once shame on me , fool me twice shame on me  (or something like that)

Same BS rhetoric for many years now.....there are people that get things done & people that don't....
Maybe a change at the top is a good thing..Maybe nobody want s the gig so you get what you get but hard for me to understand how an industry like horse racing continually gets faced.

If  Neil Bluhm was on the horsey side of the argument, I can assure you there would be slots a ring dingin at arlington right now

Come on guys your giving to much power to a IHHA president in the way of a Springfield gaming bill.  Dave has done well circling the wagons, getting on the same page with the Thoroughbred guys, and getting the message to Legislators in Springfield.  For one minute do you honestly think over the past ten years our lobbyist have been in any of those important last minute meetings.  NO.  Tony and Dave have done well to at least getting a meeting with Quinn also getting one with Cullerton.  This gaming bill being veto has little to with race tracks and more to do with Quinn getting pension reform.  Yes the Democrats hate RLD and yes Quinn has casino interest with Neal Blum but this state is 90 bln unfunded with pensions this is the number one thing hanging over this state.  If Quinn was told to pass a gaming bill in return for his pension request then done deal.  Slots at Track gaming bill passed it is that easy.

I'm so confused.  On the one hand Dave is supposed to clean up racing and on the other hand you defend Angie Affrunti and Pete Procopi.  Exactly who should Dave be "cleaning up" and throwing in jail?  doh

Luc when you say venom and clean house are you now siding with Knowitall and all his theories.    Illinois racing dirty just like any other state.  Thing is the other states don't want to go after the big fish unless his name was Pena.  How about the state of affairs in the land down under.  Vegas Jay posted a article about Aussie racing which seems to be run by mobsters and a breakout of EPO.  Stewards having there cars blow up.  Real classy.  Luc I agree with you on some of the things you posted and you know we are on the same page who runs this state Madigan.  But I honestly feel if they get pension reform thru and the only reason Quinn gets his votes for it, it comes because the gaming bill gets signed by Quinn.  Quinn can live with making Illinois the Vegas of the Midwest as long as he gets Illinois on the right fiscal track.  I'm not holding my breath and yes have tried racing out East and if you want to race out East you better swim with the big fish because it is a numbers game and those boys have all the numbers.

Dave has nothin for last two years,,,
Nothin,,,,,,nothin,,
MAYBE IT'S TIME DAVE IS REPLACED,,,
IN MY OPINION,,HE HAS DONE ,,ZERO ,,ZILCH,,NADA,,,,,,
WEAKEST BUNCH,,,OF REPRESENTIVES HORSEMEN HAVE EVRY HAD,,

FYI for the first time EVER, both chambers of the General Assembly passed slots bills the last 2 years.

FYI the slots language in the bills passed gave IL horsemen the biggest percentage of slots revenue of all US tracks with slots.

In my world those are accomplishments.

There is an IHHA Board meeting on Monday Rocco.  Why don't you tag along with Roger and learn something.
Dave has done well circling the wagons, getting on the same page with the Thoroughbred guys, and getting the message to Legislators in Springfield.

Right

For one minute do you honestly think over the past ten years our lobbyist have been in any of those important last minute meetings.  NO.

Wrong

Why are we wasting this much space on mid west hillbilly racing?

Who cares ?
The horses are garbage.
The drivers suck.
And the trainers are white trash.

Thanks for the kind words.

Luc... You're 100% correct in your assesment and Dave is not respected by the politicians and has no pull with govt. officials. He needs to go, and racing needs new leadership in Illinois.

How often have you been to Springfield, Racepony?  How many meetings with politicians have you been to with Dave?  I have personally seen the respect that Dave has from political leaders.  Can you even find Illinois on a map?

Don't waste your money on any Ill. Breds.
Buy a ny bred and have some real fun !

Ya got me there, Racepony.  It probably is real fun to go for 2200 at Monticello laughing guy

ITS TIME ,,ILL RACING,,PLAYS HARD BALL.....
THE TAIL DONT WAG DA DOG,,,
THE DOG WAGS THE.... TAIL,,,,,

Again, Rocco, go to the meeting Monday and tell the IHHA how to play hard ball.
