For those who get their hair on fire on social issues, I have always found this bit of inconsistency amusing:

Republicans - kill the murderers, kill the whales, save the babies

Democrats - save the murderers, save the whales, kill the babies

Shouldn't that last one be flipped?

And I pay for it also, but the welfare recipients Black, White, Hispanic dont

And you must not live in this country if you say food and gas is cheap.

So you take the hike off the cliff with the black sheep

I have to add to this one.  My son works with Hispanics here in town is two different fancy scmancy restaurants.  Thos men work like dogs, get paid less than my son and pay their taxes like everyone else!  Not only that, my son told me he has a new great work ethic.  I said "Why, you have always worked hard."  He said "NO, I just did my job and did it well but these Hispanic men taught me you do your job and then do more.  To help who comes in after you.  You just keep working, not matter how hard it is and not matter how many hours it takes."

The biggest shocker I found in reading this discussion is Ann Coulter made some sense. I've never known her to make any sense.  As a result, whenever she's on TV, I switch channels because I can't stand her whiney voice and the propaganda she spews. It is a fact though that the largest group of people on food stamps (52%) are white and of those 47% who do not pay taxes, 4,000 are millionaires. I don't watch Fox News at all because I like facts. Here's some facts about that 47%:

I agree. Most Hispanic people are great members of society and are generally more productive that most. If I ran the Republican party I would embrace the Hispanic voters and offer them a pathway to citizenship, a green card for anyone that wants to come here to work, and offer immigrant citizens business loans up to $500,000 fully guaranteed by SBA. That will spur more jobs than any Solyndra investment or GMAC bailout plan.

People who receive government benefits generally either do pay some payroll taxes now as poorer low wage working stiffs, or have paid taxes in the past like retirees, or will in the future as the biggest group of welfare recipients that that don't pay taxes are children under the age of 18. There are only 4,300,000 people receiving traditional "welfare" in the form of Aid Families with Dependent Children (AFDC, now TANF), and of those less than 50% will be on for more than 2 years, so take a hike with the "only I pay taxes" nonsense. The vast majority of people on public assistance in the country are your very own neighbors and parents and the veterans who fought for you.

I do live here and know it is far cheaper than in the rest of the western/industrialized world, because of government subsidies.

Without even wasting my time to watch it, I'll guess it's a citizen who learned something from big capitalist successes like Trump or Romney or the Wall Street banks, right? Run up a big debt and then wipe it off others, or the taxpayers? Do I guess right?

If you want facts then don't post just one part of a hearsay article. Obama made a lot of money and drastically underpaid taxes several years and had to pay penalties and interest. I didn't hear that from anyone, I reviewed his returns. Romney on the other hand did everything by the book and in spite of what the left says, he gave over 40% of his income to taxes and charity. The charity he did on his own. He gave more in charity in his lifetime than every Democratic president combined! The examples you gave have a better than even chance to be Democrats like Charlie Rangel and turbo tax Tim Geithner.

You can't get a business loan right now. To get a business loan today you better have a 3 year track record of steady growth with profits unless you are a doctor or dentist.

Mel, a portion of a hearsay article? I gave you the whole article.  Yes, and Mitt paid 14% taxes while I paid 20%+.

Here's another article on the 4,000 millionaires who don't pay federal income taxes if you don't believe the first I gave you.  It was all over the news a month ago but I couldn't say for sure that Fox News carried it because I don't watch it.  Like I said before, I like facts.

The worse thing you can do is pass on half baked info you know nothing about. Romney paid 14%  on gross income. He had deductions that included 20% of his income to charity that reduced his taxable income and he paid 20% on that. Romney voluntarily gave 20% of his income to charity and never underpaid his taxes like Obama did. Here is his tax return to review. http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2012/president/candidates/romney/romney_tax_return_1040_2011/

Mel, read the following and weep because you are probably paying more in taxes than Mitt.  I know I am and I also give thousands each year to charities but I still end up paying 20%+ in taxes.

http://money.cnn.com/2012/09/21/pf/taxes/romney-tax-return/index.html

Also, regarding Bain Capital and possible tax evasion.  Wasn't this the situation that Mitt said he had left Bain prior to this when, in actuality, he didn't or was that a different situation?

Supply and demand, my good man. Demand up due to a bigger world market and more uses for grain, and supply down due to the droughts of the global warming you deny exists. All part of that great American tradition called capitalism. You're not some commie who thinks he should get SUPER cheap gas and etc. supplied by the State like those socialist fools in Venezuela, are you?

And it's mine to pay for the roads you drive on, and the military and police and firemen that protect your property and belongings, and the teachers that educate your kids, and the subsidies that keep your food and gas cheap, and the flood insurance and FEMA that rescue you from disasters, and the SS and Medicare that let your retired parents live comfortably, and so on and so forth, so take a hike. What a great country.

Looks like you speak with a forked toungue.

First you say food and gas prices are cheap, now you are saying its because of the supply and demand grain prices are up, and FWIW corn and grain are used in 76% of items purchased at the grocery store, not to mention the higher price of fuel to transport it to the store.
And no Im am a hard working American not waiting on my monthly food stamp allocation.

Maryann...I can't cure dumb. Apparently you keep posting articles that are false. The article you posted claims he paid $1.94 million in taxes. I attached his actual return above. Look on page 2 line 61 to see how much he paid in taxes. Do this so you quit putting your foot in your mouth. People put anything on the internet in hopes that fools believe it. Verify everything for yourself. screwy

Mel, you are funny. False articles by the LA Times, CNN and New York Times? I know Forbes had an article about it too and I believe the Wall Street Journal also wrote about all of this. I guess all of the journalists and financial experts got it wrong.  I'm sure no facts will ever be able to change your mind so have a good night.

Looks like you speak with a forked toungue.

First you say food and gas prices are cheap

They are, relative to the rest of the civilized world. They would be much higher without subsidies. (And if you counted the cost of our military that helps keep oil products relatively cheap ... but of course, that's money that was borrowed from China on your behalf, so it doesn't really count, does it.)

Quote
now you are saying its because of the supply and demand grain prices are up

And they are. But I didn't say subsidies were holding prices at 1976 levels. Going up, but still relatively cheap. I visit the grocery store quite often, and see what's been happening there.

Quote
FWIW corn and grain are used in 76% of items purchased at the grocery store, not to mention the higher price of fuel to transport it to the store.

Corn is one of the most heavily subsidized American products, a process started by President Nixon and his Ag Secretary Earl Butz, a fellow traveler of yours. Its subsidized production has kept food prices artificially low for many years.

Quote
And no Im am a hard working American not waiting on my monthly food stamp allocation.

That's nice. So you're the same as probably almost everyone else on the forum. Congrats on your specialness.
