Artigiano – see European report

Balance the Books/Noble Tune – Trainer Chad Brown sent his 2yo colts out to the track to gallop 1 1/2m Wednesday morning.

“They looked good,” Brown said. “I don’t have any complaints.”

Brown Almighty – The Juvenile Turf contender had an easy gallop on the main track shortly after the second renovation break of the morning one day after taking to the Santa Anita turf course for the first time.

“He really looked good on the turf yesterday,” said trainer Tim Ice on Wednesday morning.  “Kent (jockey Desormeaux) let him open up a little down the lane and he said that (Brown Almighty) picked it up easy.  He’s a big horse and has a long, fluid stride.  Kent has liked the horse ever since the first time he worked him at Keeneland.”

The son of Big Brown is 2-for-4 and Ice contends the colt is just a couple a bad beats from being unbeaten.

After easily winning his first two starts (a maiden special race at Arlington Park and the $50,000 Sunny’s Halo at Louisiana Downs), he was beaten a neck in the $150,000 Sunday’s Silence and was third through the line in a roughly run Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland in which he was moved up to second.

“I wish that Mark Guidry would have waited a little bit rather than try to seize the rail when it opened up (in the Sunday Silence),” Ice said.  “Last time in the Bourbon, coming around the turn he gets boxed in down on the inside and when he gets out, he gets knocked around pretty good.  He still had the heart (after that) to make a run.

“Hopefully he can run a similar race to the first two he ran,” Ice continued.  “Ideally, I don’t want to be too far back.  I’ll let Kent break him out of the gate and see how it shapes up.  I just hope we get a clean trip and he can run his race.”

Joha –  The Breeders’ Futurity winner galloped over the Santa Anita track for the second straight morning as he prepares for the race and the arrival of trainer Mike Maker.

Assistant Lazzaro Guerra has been with the colt since arriving Sunday.

Know More – The son of Lion Heart galloped 1 1/2m at Santa Anita Wednesday with exercise rider Antonio Romero.

The versatile colt will test turf for the first time for trainer Doug O'Neill after winning the Best Pal Stakes on Polytrack and finishing second in the FrontRunner Stakes on dirt.

Rising Legend – The recently released from quarantine English import, owned by Kosta and Pete Hronis and trained by John Sadler, breezed 4f on the turf in 50 3/5 Wednesday morning. "He jogged good (Tuesday), so we decided to do a little something with him on the turf," Sadler said.

Rising Legend is the lone also-eligible for the race.

Summit County – Siena Farm’s homebred Any Given Saturday colt galloped Wednesday morning trainer Dale Romans with his training.
