Artiscapes win in the 3yold crown at Colonial Downs was the greatest performance by a racehorse ever....yes even Life Signs Jug win included......Artiscape was under attack every step of the way and held off a late charge by a tripped out Browning Blue Chip.Unsound as Artiscape was, he was iron tough with a champions heart thumbs up

Horse power is what makes all drivers .  Campbell has made a career of putting good horses in the best possible spot to win .  What John did was put them in a position more often than any other driver .

Varenne was cool.. Biggest horse bet ever was on San Pail.. I'm a harness guy, prefer it to TBred, but, I don't think anything in the Crown can compare to the Cup, went to Churchill n saw Zenyatta, I don't think I'll ever see a horse capture the hearts and attention if the crowd like she did.. I still say Muscle Hill was greatest horse I've seen in person but when Zenyatta came out, man, I literally just got chills thinking about how she literally had everyone's attention from the moment she arrived on grounds to her final race, the crowd started roaring like you couldnt believe when she stepped out on the track, was truly a magical moment.. I haven't been to a "real" harness track (Chicago only) but don't think I'll ever experience such a moment at a harness track, which sucks..

Pace I remember getting goosebumps watching Zenyatta win the Breeders Cup Classic  . She gave me a thrill Ive rarely had watching a S-Bred for many years . And the last S-Bred that  gave those chills was one I trained .

In Focus lighting up the tote board at the meadowlands with the driver who CANT WIN outside the Meadowlands......my personal favorite moment (the palone haters were nowhere to be found that night)

1999, Dan Daley winning the 2yo c trot from the 10 hole at woodbine with master lavec @30/1, my most profitable bc race

Those late 80"s Crown nights at Pompano were everything they were supposed to be. Artsplace's 2yr wr mile that night in the wind was unreal. Peace Corps going 3 deep down the front side THE FIRST TIME and just circling a very good field of horses like that.....simply incredible. The most enjoyable thing WAS the event. Having most all those races in one night is terrific for the game....those days seem like lifetimes ago.

Also....how about the depth of that field? Not to mention Precious Bunny and Miss Easy were in that crop also. I would have to think that is still the greatest crop ever,

I am not sure it is the best race or horse I have seen...

but always remember Jate Lobells first start at Maywood Park

Mark O mara was driving & drew off to win for fun..who would guess he would go on to become "Jate the Great"

Thanks Pace

Loved watching those races...did you see the amount of people on the rail at Sportmans-

I had a feeling that Jate was going to be a nice horse...He was out of No Nukes- Jr Amy

Jr amy was a tough as nails mare that unfortunately had the services of Stanley Banks

As a guy in mid 20's I simply can't even begin to imagine Maywood being a "happening" place.. I've read about it and seen pictures but actually envisioning traffic  congestion @ 6:30 before a 7 o'clock card at Maywood is completely unfathomable.. Must've been a great time to be a harness fan!
