BVP, i read about that contest, the one thing i dont like about it is that some players are 'gifted' into the process while others have to pay. If you get a 'free entry' you might bet differently than if you had to risk your own money. Seems that everyone should have to pay, to keep a level playing field.

U make a good point Hungry. I also feel it should be more of a tournament, rather than just a 1-day "I was hot/I was cold" setup. Perhaps some kind of bracket tournament held over 4-6 weeks. Otherwise, is the winner truly the "champion" ?

No, its an absolute crap shoot. I agree, if you want to make it about skill and who was hot on one day, than you make it a 4 to 6 week deal, that way, the better horseplayers will win and you seperate the wheat from the chaff.

Should we start a separate thread for the WHHC ?

Please do so, if you so desire...

These tournaments are just a gambling contest....not to prove who's the best handicapper. Even a 4-6 week contest would prove chit. The only thing that matters to me anyhow, is ROI for the longterm & people on the positive side in horse racing are few & far between because of high take-outs & less "dead" money. ( except for the 50-60 best handicappers on these chats rooms who are all killing the game, betting the high rake Pennsylvania tracks)You need rebates & a very patient betting strategy + a lot of homework which few are willing to commit to "grind out a profit. Nothing wrong with paling the tournament & hope you're in the groove that day or a couple you have been waiting on are going.

My best was 3rd a fews years back. I was in the lead going into the last race and had 2 contenders. I took the one that spit the bit while the other won and made for a long ride home.

NO 4-6 weeks for me. What are you going to do? Get a condo for 2 months in NY or Toronto? One to Two days is enough. And yes, all it takes is one longshot to win it. Last year's winner qualified @ Pocono on a mistake, then was almost broke in the contest and pulled it off with the Teague entry @ 12-1.

Is it truly a "world" contest?
