Unless stated on the ticket "political fundraiser" it has no business being there.  Imagine if Garrett Gomez won a big race then in the post race interview starting spewing political commentary?

Lots of performers do it. Hank Williams Jr., is famous for it, and so is Bruce Springsteen.

They do it mostly in the context of performances for a certain candidate or political party.  Sometimes the nature of their music sort of heads in one way or another.  There are few who do break up their performances with comments about personal opinions.  Like Ted Nugent who likes guns and wants to shoot and eat every animal in sight.

I personally do not like country music, but Toby Keith would be a good selection.  He is young and popular, plus he breeds and races horses.

I've seen both in concert.  Springsteen made a 5 minute poitical rant a few years back and his fans got a little upset as most of them are older now and a tad more conservative.  He's toned it down recently.  Williams never uttered a political statement when I saw him.
