Bolt the Duer scratched final.
Trainer complaining about heat racing.

You kidding me?  Such nonsense.  They used to run
3 heats in a day and race next week.  Now they cry 2 races in day.

So absurd.  Nothing like watching a top horse race twice.

1982 - Icarus Lobell raced 5 straight weeks 2 heats.
1983 ---Triple crown winner Ralph Hanover raced 4 straight weeks
2 heats in Aug....3rd week was Cane win at Yonkers...

Those were my days of pure bliss in this game.   Had no idea how bad it really was and how bad it was going to get.

Thanks for a great memory I am gonna try to find a youtube video of these greats!!!

I think the Jugette this year found the answer to the heat racing problem... I for one have no problem going two heats with a horse BUT 3 heats is no good...MHO.
This year the top 4 our of each heat came back and the winner of the 2nd heat was the winner of The Jugette... If they had stuck to the format they always went by they would have had to come back for a 3rd heat which they didn't have to ...
