FOR THE FIRST TIME Romans WILL RACE Shackleford  WITH Aluminum SHOES OVER A WET TRACK. Romans ALWAYS RACED Shackleford WITH RUBBER SHOES OVER WET TRACKS.

the track will be fast--Big Sandy dries out quickly

Shackleford has been mismanaged racing from 6F to 12F--poor horse doesnt what what they want from him

Go ahead and believe that, if you like.  My take is that Shack has natural speed, that Romans did an awesome job of stretching him out for the classics, and that he has brought him back now as essentially a miler (which seems to suit him pretty well).  Meanwhile, where are the rest of last year's 3yo colts?  Looks like a hell of a training job to me.

Did he also mismanage Little Mike into that Million win?  And how about that complete hack job he's done with Tapitsfly?

If I were an owner, I'd love to have my horses mismanaged like that.
