It's not on Equibase. Like it never even happened. How about you tell us about it.

You can watch it here for free. http://espn.go.com/horse-racing/twinspires?wer (Click "Race Replays" > Select "Hoosier Park" and the date "9/27" on the calendar > Select the 8th race) The thing happens at around 1:31 of the video.

Cliffs: As the horses turned for the stretch, the starting gate was still lined up across the track (they started very close to the far turn) and the horses had to be pulled up immediately. I guess there is no siren or any type of system that alerted the jockeys to the situation, so they were driving their horses up until the last few seconds.

That was just plain scary !!!!!!

But someone should be held accountable as to why the gate started moving after the horses turned for home.

Was the gate stuck in the muddy track?

Agreed good to see no jocks or horses injured in that mess.

Whoa!  What in the heck happened?  That was crazy and amazing everyone, and every horse was OK.  That had to be so scary to both horse and jockey.

Mother of pearl! That is inexcusable and I love Hoosier. Mechanical malfunctions occur but someone should have alerted the race caller and he could have yelled a warning over the system. The first thing he said was "Hold all tickets, hold all tickets"!! What the hell was that? I would have yelled "Holy Shit!!!" Horses and riders are approaching what looked to be certain death and he is telling people to hold their tickets. What were the outriders doing while this was going on? Maybe they thought they could get the gate moved at the last second and didn't want to stop the race. Needless to say, I assume they are working on a contingency plan if this occurs again.
